Cordless Stick Vacuums
We like the Shark Vertex Pro IZ662H’s many features. The wand can be bent to easily reach under furniture, and the vacuum itself folds to allow more compact storage. While it’s only decent at cleaning carpets, this vacuum excels at removing pet hair and dust from bare, uncarpeted floors. This deal is the best that we’ve seen of this vacuum all year.
We’ve seen the Shark Stratos IZ862H as low as $250 around Black Friday, but that big of a discount isn’t likely going to come back around, so now’s a good chance to buy this vacuum. It has Shark’s signature DuoClean brush roll and a flexible wand for reaching under furniture. It earns top scores for cleaning bare floors and removing debris along edges. But if you have carpet, it’s only so-so. A dirt sensor increases suction when the vacuum senses debris and decreases when the floor is clean. It also has a self-cleaning mechanism that prevents hair from getting tangled around the brush roll.
We like the Shark Vertex Pro IZ662H’s low price as well as its many features. The wand can be bent to reach underneath furniture better, and the vacuum itself folds to allow for more compact storage. While it’s only decent at cleaning carpets, the vacuum shines in cleaning up pet hair and bare, uncarpeted floors. The price for this vacuum fluctuates, but this is the lowest we’ve seen in months.
The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite VS80F28DMP/AA was $30 less for Black Friday, but right now what you’re seeing is still a good deal. Lighter and less expensive than the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra VS90F40DMK/AA, the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite VS80F28DMP/AA is a good choice for homes without a lot of carpet. While it’s only decent at lifting debris from carpet, it’s very good on bare floors and even better at picking up pet hair. It comes with a station that charges the vacuum and automatically empties its dust bin.
The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 comes with lots of bells and whistles, including a dirt detection feature and a floor detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed based on the surface it’s vacuuming. It’s very good at sucking up debris from carpets and is even more impressive at picking up pet hair. The vacuum can be converted into a hand vac and folded for storage, too.
Corded Stick Vacuums
The corded Shark PowerDetect HZ4002 offers top-notch cleaning for bare floors and pet hair and performs above average on carpet. It features an auto-detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed to the surface, transitioning efficiently between carpet and hard floors. It also has two brush rolls: one with rubber fins for optimal contact with surfaces and a soft roller to capture small particles. It can be pulled apart for compact storage, allowing it to stand on its own and take up minimal space. This model even boasts the ability to deliver powerful suction in the reverse direction for more efficient cleaning in both forward and backward motion. In our member surveys, Shark corded vacuums earn a top-level mark for predicted reliability and a near-top-level mark for owner satisfaction.
Shark Vertex Ultralight HZ2002
With the Shark Vertex Ultralight HZ2002, you’re getting a 2-in-1 tool: a stick vac that converts into a hand vac that weighs just 2.9 pounds. This vacuum earned top-tier scores in our bare floors and pet hair tests. It comes with a self-cleaning pet power brush that’s designed to remove pet hair from upholstery, stairs, and more without the hair getting entangled inside. Though this model has been offered at this price before, we haven’t seen it priced lower.
Half off its usual price, the Shark Rocket HV301 shows impressive cleaning performance on bare floors and pet hair pickup. It also does a decent job of cleaning carpets. It comes with a 30-foot cord and can be converted into a hand vacuum, adding to its convenience. You can clip the hand vacuum to the bottom of the wand for easier storage.
Robotic Vacuums
Currently the highest-scoring robot vacuum in our ratings, the iRobot Roomba Max 705 checks a lot of boxes. It’s a strong cleaner and is especially good at suctioning up pet hair. The vacuum is adept at navigating through the house and is relatively quiet, so you’ll barely notice it.
That being said, with iRobot facing potential bankruptcy, you might want to think twice before buying this model. If the company files for bankruptcy, that might affect any functions Roomba models have that rely on cloud servers.
Robotic Mops
This is the lowest price we’ve seen on the Dreame L40 Ultra all year. If you don’t have a lot of carpets in your home, this model is a great choice. While it’s only decent at vacuuming carpets, it shines at clearing debris off bare floors and picking up pet hair. It’s also very good at mopping dried-up stains. The Dreame L40 Ultra’s base automatically empties dirt and debris, washes and dries the model’s mop pads, and refills the device with water and solution.
Upright Vacuums
The budget-friendly Kenmore Pet-Friendly Cross-Over DU3017 is a solid performer all-around. It’s stellar at cleaning up pet hair and bare floors and does a fine job of suctioning debris from carpets. The vacuum did well in our clean emissions tests, meaning it captures the dust it picks up, which is important if you have allergies or other respiratory problems. One drawback is that its shorter-than-normal cord might have you mapping your electrical outlets when you’re vacuuming.
If you don’t have a lot of carpets at home, it’s worth considering the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NV752, which is excellent at cleaning bare surfaces. It’s one of the quieter upright vacuums we tested, and it also scores well for picking up pet hair. The vacuum comes with LED headlights, which can spotlight any debris on the floor while you’re cleaning.
The Shark PowerDetect AZ4002 is currently the highest-scoring bagless upright vacuum in our ratings, excelling in our pet hair and bare-floor cleaning tests. It’s less noisy than many other models and comes packed with handy features, among them a dirt sensor that automatically boosts power to pull up more debris. For those who hate having to extricate hair from a vacuum’s brush rolls, the PowerDetect’s rolls are designed with a self-cleaning feature to guard against entanglements.
Canister Vacuums
If you’re a pet owner looking for a vac strong enough to handle your pet’s stray hair, this should be on your shortlist. The Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly UltraPlush 81714 lives up to its name and has the highest score in its category for picking up fur. It’s also top-notch at cleaning bare floors and very good at removing debris from carpets.
The Miele Complete C3 Marin scores the highest of all the canisters we tested, a result of its stellar cleaning performance of bare floors and pet hair pickup. While it doesn’t do as well on carpets, it has very good suction power and is fairly quiet. As a brand, Miele canisters get excellent scores in predicted reliability, meaning they’re less likely to have issues down the road.
Handheld Vacuums
If you’re tired of lugging around a heavy hand vacuum while cleaning, you should consider the Shark Ion W1 WV201. At 1.4 pounds, it’s one of the lightest hand vacs in our ratings. And despite its strong cleaning performance—the best among the hand vacs we tested—it’s also fairly quiet. It’s currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen this year.
The Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ CH951 is perfect if you’re looking for a handheld vacuum that’s good at cleaning pet hair. Thanks to its motorized power brush, it excels at picking up pet hair. The dirt ejection mechanism on this vacuum, while convenient, can sometimes jam.
At four pounds, the Dyson Car+Boat 586119-01 is heavier than the other hand vacuums we test, but its run time is also the longest we’ve seen (up to 24 minutes on its high power mode). It’s a strong cleaner of carpets and top-notch at cleaning bare floors and pet hair. But it’s not so good at cleaning tight, narrow spaces. The current price isn’t the lowest we’ve seen for this model, but it’s still a nice discount.
Combo Vacuum-Mops
The Tineco Floor One S7 Pro Smart Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner shines at cleaning up wet messes, such as cereal and milk, and does a solid job of removing dried-on food stains as well. Its battery life is longer than that of many of its competitors, and we appreciate the convenience of its self-cleaning features. While it’s not being sold at as low a price as it was during Prime Big Deal Days.
Steam Mops
Currently the highest rated steam mop from our tests, the Kenmore S200 Series SM2060 excels in cleaning messes and producing a large amount of steam. What makes it unique is its scrubber tool, which is built into the mop and can be used to remove dirt and grime from tiles once the mop head is detached. Its run time is around average, and it doesn’t have useful features like an empty-tank indicator light, leading to its middling scoring for convenience. Right now, this model is selling at the lowest price it typically goes for.
Bissell Symphony 1543A
The Bissell Symphony 1543A is excellent at removing stains and earns top marks for convenience. The mop’s nifty features include a 25-foot-long cord and a ready indicator light. With a full tank of water, the steam mop can produce steam for 20 minutes, longer than many of the other models in our ratings. Though it’s both a steam mop and a vacuum, in our testing, we only tested its steam mop abilities.
It’s hard to find fault with the Tineco Floor One S5, which excels at cleaning stains off ceramic tiles and producing steam. Its steam run time is around 20 minutes, longer than many of the other steam mops we’ve tested. In addition to being a steam mop, this Tineco model is also a wet and dry vacuum (we haven’t tested those vacuum functions).
It was $230 during Black Friday, but this is still a massive price cut from the regular price.
The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.
Carpet Cleaners
The Dirt Devil Compact Portable Spot Cleaner is a light little carpet cleaner at just 9 pounds with a full tank of solution. While the portable cleaners in our tests don’t measure up to full-sized machines in terms of their cleaning abilities, this model did well, especially when it comes to drying. It’s also one of the quieter models we tested. The tank isn’t huge (partly why the cleaner is so light), but if you’re just using it for spills and spot-cleaning, this model will do the trick.
Weighing 19 pounds when full, the Hoover PowerDash Pet Advanced is fairly easy to maneuver. It weighs 14 pounds when empty, making it easier than some others to haul in and out of a closet. It cleans just 7 square feet of carpet per tank of solution, but the 8-foot hose gives you lots of room to work without constantly moving the machine. Its scores for cleaning and convenience are impressive, and in our tests it sucked up most of the cleaning solution to leave the carpet damp but not sodden. It has separate tanks for cleaning solution and water, which is preferable to having one tank for both. But it lacks a carrying handle.
In our tests, the Shark CarpetXpert EX201 does a solid job cleaning stains from carpets and doesn’t leave much detergent residue behind. It’s convenient to use and comes with a hose, a crevice attachment, and a pet mess tool.
Carpet cleaners can be heavy, but one of the good things about the Shark CarpetXpert EX121BRN is that it’s on the lighter side at 14 pounds. It doesn’t come with a hose or tons of attachments, but it did impress us with its ability to eradicate messes from carpets. And while this model has been offered at this price before, we haven’t seen it go lower.
The highest performer among the portable carpet cleaners we tested, the Shark StainStriker PX201 carpet cleaner is decent at cleaning stains and impressive at removing its cleaning solution from carpets. It comes with a 57-inch hose and other attachments, including pet tools.
