Getting up in the middle of the night to prepare (and heat) a bottle for your baby can feel like an endurance test. Bottle warmers can make the job a little easier by helping you heat milk or formula with one eye still closed.

While they’re not necessarily a must-have baby product, many new parents like the convenience of bottle warmers, and certain models are designed to warm bottles when you’re on the go. Plus, bottle warmers might be useful to heat up certain baby foods, and many have sterilizing functions, too.

MORE ON BOTTLE FEEDING

To help you decide on the best bottle warmer for you, Dana Keester, a Consumer Reports usability specialist assessed seven popular models. Each bottle warmer was evaluated in our lab for warming speed and ease of use. We also evaluated the top bottle warmers for overheating to find out whether they exceed 104° F, which is the maximum temperature experts recommend to avoid the deterioration of important nutrients.

Finally, we recruited 15 parents who currently use bottle warmers to provide feedback on what they thought were the most important features in these products. Some of the top things they considered were how easy the warmers are to use, whether they overheated, how quickly they worked, the size of the device, and how easy they were to clean after a bottle warming.
