Safety is one of the most important factors parents consider when we’re making decisions about baby gear. After all, the coolest stroller in the world is just a glorified wheelbarrow if it’s not also safe.
At Consumer Reports, our team of testers, scientists, researchers, and journalists (many of us parents ourselves) put more than 1,000 baby products through a series of evidence-based, comparative tests to help parents make smart, safe choices. CR’s Top Picks for Baby for 2025 are the products that stood out in our lab tests for safety and performance.
- Top Picks: Bassinets Cribs Diapers High Chairs Infant Car Seats Strollers
Consumer Reports has been working for safer products for babies for decades. But we don’t just test products in our labs. As part of our nonprofit mission, we work with lawmakers and industry to make safety standards stronger—and get unsafe products off the market. It’s all part of how CR helps ensure that baby products are held to the highest standards of safety.
In each category below, our Top Pick is the highest-rated widely available model from our rigorous lab tests. We’ve also designated a Value Pick for each category that offers a great test score for a good price. And because not every family’s needs are the same, our Expert Pick in each category offers standout features our testers appreciated.

Top Pick for Bassinets: Maxi-Cosi Iora Bedside Bassinet

There’s a lot to love about our top pick, the Maxi-Cosi Iora Bedside Bassinet, but to put it plainly: it’s simple, sturdy, and safe. Another highlight: The Iora bassinet is both vertically and horizontally adjustable. “It can slide closer toward you when used bedside,” says Joan Muratore, who leads baby product testing at Consumer Reports. And if one or both parents are tall, “the height adjustment feature is again a plus,” she says. We couldn’t find any performance or design flaws in our testing.

Top Pick for Cribs: Pottery Barn Kids Emerson Convertible Crib

The Pottery Barn Kids Emerson Convertible Crib has been the highest-rated crib we’ve tested for two years running, as this convertible crib “has consistently impressed testers with its remarkable construction quality,” says Muratore. Made of solid pine wood with a metal mattress support and two height options, it can also convert to a toddler bed if you purchase the separate conversion kit. Though it’s not the most cost-conscious model on our list, “its price may be easier to swallow as the crib can be used throughout the toddler years,” Muratore says.

The mom-designed bumGenius Freetime 2.0 All In One cloth diaper far and away outperformed all other cloth diapers in our absorption and dryness tests. The fully waterproof outer layer prevented any seepage or moisture from coming through—a definite plus. And this diaper gets extra points for sturdiness: It held up well through repeated wash cycles.

The Disposable Overnight Diapers from Up&Up excelled in our tests for absorption speed and dryness, absorbing liquids quickly and locking the moisture in. Overall, they’re a budget-friendly choice that will help keep your baby comfy and dry.
Top Pick for High Chairs: UPPAbaby Ciro

The UPPAbaby Ciro high chair won top scores in our rigorous lab tests for safety and ease of cleaning. And it doesn’t look bad or take up a lot of space, either. Our testers appreciated the 3-position adjustable tray that’s dishwasher-safe and was easy to attach, as well as machine-washable harness straps that can be adjusted with the push of a button. Another thoughtful touch that won our test team over: a bib hook on the back of the chair.
Top Pick for Infant Car Seats: Clek Liing

If you’re looking for one of the safest car seats out there that’s also easy to use, you’ve found it. The Clek Liing is our highest scoring infant car seat and has excellent crash protection with its load-leg feature and rigid lower anchor connectors. Other features our testers appreciated include a narrow design that makes three-across seating easier, an easy LATCH installation, and 7 different reclining positions, which you can adjust without having to uninstall the seat base.

The Nuna Trvl LX is our stroller tester’s go-to fave. It’s lightweight and sturdy, provides a smooth ride on most surfaces, and scored high for safety in our testing. The sturdy Bob Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie was a standout in our safety tests. Thanks to its air-filled tires and mountain-bike style suspension, it offers a smooth ride, and our testers found it easy to maneuver—which in the double stroller category is really saying something. The Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie also works from birth with an infant car seat (with an extra adapter) or from 8 weeks in the stroller seat.
