    Road Test

We thought this iteration of the A4 was the best version of the car we'd ever tested up to that point. It feels solid, handles nimbly and the ride is firm, but well controlled. Braking performance and emergency handling are excellent. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine is smooth and civilized. The cabin is quiet and the interior finish is first-rate. All-wheel drive adds peace of mind, but hurts fuel economy. But many controls are overly complicated and the rear seat remains tight.
