    First Take
Audi's flagship sedan competes among the world's largest and most luxurious sedans, and is the only car in its price range to offer standard all-wheel drive. Notable features include an aluminum body and a burly 4.2-liter V8. A five-speed automatic transmission and stability control are standard. The A8 has a total of eight air bags--one in each of the doors, as well as side-curtain head-protection bags. But so-so ride comfort and control placement show this model's age. The longer-wheelbase A8L features a roomier rear seat. A higher-performance 360-hp S8 model is the latest edition. A GPS navigation system comes standard.
