    First Take
The Allroad is the wagon version of the A4. Following the same format as before, the Allroad features rugged styling details and slightly higher ride height. The 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine was smooth and punchy, and the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic was slick in the A4 that we tested. Handling is nimble and precise, the ride is supple, and the A4 feels tight-as-a-drum solid, with a very quiet cabin. A new interface for the infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Allroad is compelling for buyers who expect more agility and a greater level of interior quality than the Subaru Outback offers and are willing to put up with the Audi's much higher price and tighter accommodations.
