What Owners Say
""I have always used Petro Canada 94 octane gas for my Audi Q5 as it was certified under the top gas program. About the summer of 2023, I noticed the engine was not running smoothly. I went to the dealer on a couple of occasions and they ran diagnostics, but found nothing wrong. They suggested I drive in S. I had usually driven in comfort mode when the family was in the car. Eventually the engine light stayed on and the dealer did a deeper dive into what the problem was. It ruined out I had a broken exhaust valve spring and carbon buildup on the exhaust valves. They replaced all the exhaust valve springs and did a walnut blasting of the exhaust valves. This solved the issue. I also learned that Petro Canada had stopped being Top Gas certified over 2 years ago but I was not aware of this. So the detergent level of the gas was lower. In the end it appears I should have been running the car at higher RPMs from time to time to burn off the carbon build up. I have now switched to Shell.""
Anonymous, ON (2016 Audi Q5 2.0T 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)""Engine warning light would come for a period of time. After sitting for a period of time and re-starting the car the light was not on. After driving for several miles the light would re-appear. This went on for a period of time. Brought car to shop where the 0016 malfunction code showed up as it had previously. Car taken to shop and repaired for timing chain and belt tensioner issue. Also replaced other associated parts - cover, battery. Sixteen months later, same issue appeared. Also the car was burning. Warning light for one quart low appeared every 800 miles. I had previously read that the oil issue was addressed by DOT had a recall for engines prior to 2016. The car had no work documents showing any repair of any oil issue and not sure if engine was build prior 2016. Waiting to take vehicle into shop again for timing belt tensioner issue and oil issue. (According to previous owner, not aware of oil issue. Seemed to appear after previous work 16 months ago. Would not buy another Audi - maintenance too expensive and can't easily diagnose and fix minor issues.""
