    First Take
The redesigned TT greatly improves on the previous model. While still not as agile or sporty as the Mazda RX-8 or Porsche Boxster, it is enjoyable to drive. The TT displays responsive but not overtly sporty handling. The ride isn't as punishing as before. The coupe has two small rear seats while the convertible seats just two. Front-wheel-drive models come standard with the punchy 2.0-liter four-cylinder also used in the A3. The stronger 3.2-liter V6 is smooth and powerful. Both can be mated to the optional excellent S tronic, a manual transmission that shifts automatically.
