    What Owners Say

    Other electrical system problem

"The P indicator light on top of gear shift stop lighting. Virginia safety inspection failed the car for further driving. BMW service stated the ENTIRE gear shift mechanism has to be replaced ( cannot just fix the light). BMW estimate was $1400 part and $1200 labor. Had work done at independent shop for the same part cost but labor was $600. Independent shop asked BMW for an electric card that would fix the indicator light problem without having to replace the entire gear shift mechanism. BMW would not sell/ provide this part. The car could not be driven on public roads with a failed VA safety inspection due to this one little indicator light on top of gear shifter. There is a duplicate light on the dashboard that was functional. I fault Commonwealth of Virginia for failing a car based on this minor issue AND for BMW for a car design that requires replacement of the ENTIRE gear shift mechanism for a indicator light on top of the gear shifter. What a waste of resources. The independent repair shop identified a part with the shift mechanism (electric card) that would again power this indicator light without having to replace the entire gear shift mechanism. BMW would not just sell this part. Are newer and current vehicle models have similar design flaws??"

    Anonymous A., VA (2015 BMW 4 Series 428i 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Tire wear is uneven

"inside tread of right front wheel was seriously worn. Some part of the suspension was way out of spec and had to be replaced in order to get alignment to work correctly. It was fixed, but at a high cost."

    Anonymous, CA (2015 BMW 4 Series 428i 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
