"Infamous GM "Shift to Park" problem. Car was physically in Park but dash display said otherwise. Turn engine off, all interior and exterior lights remain on. 40 minutes later Onstar would notify us of critically low battery. One time I was able to return to the vehicle WITHOUT KEY FOB. I started the vehicle with the button, pulled out of the garage a drove away. If it had been a stranger in a parking lot they could have stolen my car. Thus, I could not take my car to the store, etc, and leave it unattended. Fault ultimately found as defective shift module in console. In my view this was a power train issue. GM said not and charged $300+ for repair, even though there were class-action lawsuits in play."
