    What Owners Say

Electric/hybrid battery pack malfunction (didn't need replacement)

"battery problem subject to recall but was unable to get Chevrolet to actually replace the traction battery"

Anonymous A., NM (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

""Required a SW update and battery test. It did take more than one day for the repair as it had to charge, discharge and be tested after the update.""

Anonymous A., OR (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

"Software recall. This was a problem with overcharging and fire I believe"

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)
    Electric/hybrid battery pack replacement

"The battery pack failed and has been at the dealer waiting for a replacement for a month and I expect it to take another month though I haven't even gotten an estimate."

Anonymous, NM (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

""Would not hold a full charge. Was replaced at 9000 miles before was got car, and replacement failed at 20,000 less than a year later.""

Anonymous, CA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT Electric)

"Received low propulsion message. I was able to drive the vehicle to the dealership. Although it took GM 3 months to get a replacement battery pack, the replacement functions well."

Anonymous, OH (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

""We bought the care used in November, 2023, and it had just had the battery replaced as part of a recall. In the summer of 2024 the battery failed and was replaced with an entirely new battery. In January, 2025 part of the main battery failed and it was replaced. Each time the battery was repaired or replaced the car was at the dealer for a couple weeks and no loaner car was provided. We are VERY lucky that we decided to hold onto our old car rather than trade it in, and we are seriously thinking of selling the car at a big loss as soon as the power train warranty expires. This is really too bad since we love the car other than the battery problems!""

Anonymous, VA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

""Drive battery failure 2/2025 during a severe cold snap. Limited charging and performance. Covered under warranty - however, 10 - 12 week lead time for replacement""

Anonymous, WI (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

"Error message stated low power level and recommended dealer exam"

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

""There was a factory recall on the battery pack, and we had it replaced at the dealer under warranty""

Anonymous, AZ (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Unsure Electric)

""Car was part of battery recall. Dealer added software to monitor battery as there were no bateries available. After months, was tole battery was fine and given $1500 as compensation. a few months after that the battery failed. Dealer replaced the battery under warranty""

Anonymous, PA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

"I just happened once. The check battery came up and charging was limited. It was resolved in under a week."

Anonymous A., OR (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Backup or other camera/sensors

"Guideline feature turns off and on at random. Sometimes the camera doesn't turn off after the car is shifted to Drive."

Anonymous, WA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT Electric)

""First thing in the morning when I start the car, the backup camera does not have the guidelines. Sometime later the guidelines appear as expected. If the car sits for a few hours, the guidelines disappear again. Oddly, they appear briefly when I switch from reverse to drive.""

Anonymous A., CA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT Electric)

"Rear view mirror display screen occasionally stops working. Dealer could not duplicate"

Anonymous, CA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt Premier Electric)
    Radio

""The radio reception is bad to terrible. Lots of static for many local stations--no rhyme or reason for this that I can detect. Quite often the static is so bad that I cannot understand what's being said, FM is often worse than AM. The dealership has no solution to this problem--blames the radio stations, which is total nonsense.""

"Frequently, at dusk, the system does not detect an oncoming car if it does not have its headlights on or a car in front. High beams remain on. Intermittently the manual control of headlights will not function when auto is turned off."

Anonymous A., WA (2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT Electric)
    Wiper motor or washer

"Dealer indicated parts were not available over a 9 month period of inquiries. After BBB lemon law case began the problem was corrected in a week. The specific problem was a fuse block associated with the windshield wash system that had melted itself in the first year of ownership"
