Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2019 Chevrolet Corvette owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

/ 5

What Owners Say

A/C compressor

"A compressor leak was found on May 2, 2024 (6 days ago) during an oil change appointment last week. Replaced the compressor."

Anonymous, OH (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)
Automatic climate control

"automatic control A/C requires continued adjustments to maintain a desired temperature."

Anonymous, AZ (2019 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)
Evaporator

"Low cooling levels in car. Dealer did thorough diagnostic and installed dye. No leaks and AC system worked fine after diagnostic process."

Anonymous, VA (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)
Other climate system problem

"bacteria grows in the vent system. Leaves a terrible dirty sock smell. Have to constantly clean out filter and flush vents with deodorizer."

Anonymous, TX (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 6.2-L V8 supercharged)

Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Other steering/suspension problem

"Rear wheel cracked. Dealer told me this is a known problem that GM has ignored. Expensive rim to replace."

Anonymous, MI (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)

"The wheels on the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport develop cracks. I replaced three wheels in four years due to cracking. This is a known problem that GM has chosen to ignore in spite of class action suits being brought against them. Last year I replaced the stock wheels with after-market forged wheels that are guaranteed not to crack."

Anonymous, IL (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)
Steering linkage (includes rack and pinion)

"front wheel shake, turning left or right, when first start to move."

Anonymous, AZ (2019 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Other minor transmission & clutch problem

"The transmission developed a shudder when speeding up after slowing down. This is a well documented problem on several GM vehicles in addition to the Corvette. GM developed a repair memo as a workaround which involved triple flushing the transmission fluid and replacing with a different fluid. The workaround worked for me and no additional work (i.e. torque converter replacement) was required. The work was covered under warranty."

Anonymous, IL (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)
Slipping transmission

"Chevrolet identified a "shudder" problem with the transmission fluid shortly after I purchased the new car in 2019. When driving at a steady speed, one can feel a minute amount of hesitation in the transmission. The shudder continues until more speed or braking occurs. It's been occurring for a long time, but I only recently determined that it was the transmission that was the problem. Even though the shudder problem was known for the Corvette and some other CHEVROLET products, GM did nothing to inform the owners of the issue. The local dealer in Venice, Jenkins CHEVROLET knew of the problem and corrected it. The cost to me was $863 to flush the transmission and add a new type of fluid that would not collect moisture over time causing slipping. GM was obligated to tell me about this and should have replaced the fluid at no cost to me years ago when they first learned of it."

Anonymous A., PA (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Backup or other camera/sensors

"camera will start glitching and change colors and give a distorted pic."

Anonymous, TX (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 6.2-L V8 supercharged)

Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Rotors

"When the car had about 11,000 miles on it, the front brakes began to pulsate indicating warped rotors. The dealer turned the rotors which corrected the problem. Pulsating began again 10,000 miles later, but the dealer said the rotors were too thin to turn again (same dealer as the first time). The dealer's solution was to replace all the brakes and rotors. Cost $6,500.00. I declined."

Anonymous A., PA (2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 6.2-L V8)

/ 5

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

AIR BAGS
May 31, 2018
In the event of a crash, if the air bags do not deploy as designed, the occupants have an increased risk of injury.
Summary:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vehicles. Hard braking or acceleration may cause the sensing diagnostic module (SDM) to enter a fault state. As a result, the SDM will not provide crash sensing or deploy the necessary air bags in the event of a crash.
What should you do:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18195.
