In RS trim, the tech-heavy interior is roomy and uniquely styled, but there is little else to elevate the SUV to the level of the class standouts.
The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox redesign carries over the previous generation’s powertrain, but sits on a new platform with a longer wheelbase and wider track. On top of that, the exterior and interior changes update the compact SUV to the look and feel of the recent Blazer EV and Trax, the redesigned midsized Traverse, and the freshened Tahoe and Suburban large SUVs.
Chevrolet was able to give the new Equinox a bit more interior room compared to the previous generation, thanks to a wider and taller body. The carryover 175-horsepower, 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in front-wheel-drive versions, while all-wheel-drive models get an eight-speed automatic.
For the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, the automaker cut down on the available versions, offering just three trims: LT, RS, and ACTIV. Each has a distinct exterior treatment. The RS—the version we rented from Chevrolet—is the sporty looking selection with unique trim details inside and out, such as a wide grille, black accents, 19-inch wheels, and an available black roof. The ACTIV trim has an off-road-inspired appearance, with a rugged-looking front end, black trim, and 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. It’s available with a white roof.
Pricing begins at $28,600 for the base, front-wheel-drive LT version, with the AWD version starting at $30,600. The LT trim will make up the bulk of what Chevrolet builds and sells, while the front-wheel-drive versions of the RS and Active start at $33,000. The AWD versions cost an additional $2,000.
