"A squeak near the front right? Having something to do with wheels or brake that has been difficult to diagnose"

Anonymous, MN (2014 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.6-L V6)

/ 5

What Owners Say

Premature brake wear

"Brakes had been replaced less than 15 months and the rotors and Brakes were replaced under warranty. The dealership responded right away and I haven't had any problems since."

Anonymous, MI (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

"I go through pads and rotors far quicker than I should"

Anonymous, ON (2014 Chevrolet Impala LT 3.6-L V6)
Rotors

"I heard a squeaking sound from the front end. I thought it was my shocks. Turns out it was the tie rods, brake pads cracked seperating and rotors corroded and discolored. This was in the middle of January of 2024. I had the work done on January 26th 2024. No problems since then!"

Anonymous, PA (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

"noise vibration - calipers and rotors on rear needed replacing"

Anonymous, ON (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)
Squeaking

"Because of health issues, I don't drive as much as I want. The brakes would squeak especially the first time I used the brakes. It has been an issue ever since I owned the car."

Anonymous, MI (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Transmission rebuild or replacement

"The problem developed the same day I took it to a dealer to look at. They suspected the transmission so to get a rebuilt or new one would take 2 weeks so they had the car 2 weeks. Was fixed to my satisfaction. No more problem."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Chevrolet Impala LS 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Kept getting "check stabilitrak, brake assist, etc. Deler replaced transmission, but problems persists."

Anonymous A., NM (2014 Chevrolet Impala LT 3.6-L V6)

"Rebuilt no further her problems"

Anonymous, GA (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

"We were having various issues with the traction control and anti-skid systems, and were not sure what the problems were. There were OBDII codes being produced, but they were for non-specific errors. After further diagnosis with both the transmission and timing issues, it was determined that the transmission had also been affected by the timing issue and needed to be replaced. All of the issues occurred over the period of about 12 months. Various sensors and other repairs were made, and would work for a short period of time, but those repairs were essentially only correcting the symptoms, not the underlying problem."

Anonymous A., NC (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

"Started about 2 years ago and it comes on when starting the car"

Anonymous A., LA (2014 Chevrolet Impala LT 3.6-L V6)

"I hit a pothole a couple years ago that caused the display to go blank/black. From then on the screen occasionally flickers and goes blank for varying time periods. Sometimes the cause is obvious (like a small pothole or speed bump) sometimes there is no discernable cause. I don't drive this car much any more, but the problem does still occur according to the other driver."

/ 5

What Owners Say

Timing belt or chain

"Our car was having intermittent issues with the traction control, ABS, anti-skid, and other related systems, and was presenting various codes via the OBDII system. Several repairs were attempted and would work for a short period of time. After about 9-10 months the problems became almost constant, and the car would hesitate trying to move from a standing stop, there was vibration in the steering/suspension/braking systems, and we felt the car might be becoming unsafe to drive. We took it to our local mechanic who diagnosed the problem with the help of several technical bulletins from Chevrolet, and via a combination of multiple OBDII codes as multiple issues with the timing chain, timing gear, and related components within the timing system. The only corrective action available was to replace all of the timing system components - gears, chain, guides, etc. The car is currently in the shop having this work done."

Anonymous A., NC (2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 3.6-L V6)

AIR BAGS
Jul 24, 2015
If the front passenger air bag deploys with a child seat in the front passenger seat, it increases the risk of injury to the child.
Summary:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured April 15, 2013, to June 19, 2015, equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. Accordingly, the Automatic Occupant Sensing (AOS) system may fail to suppress the front passenger air bag if a child seat is in the front passenger seat. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
What should you do:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will correct the calibration-learning error by preconditioning the empty seat, and also resetting the ECU to a seat zero-value, free of charge. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 15400.
