What Owners Say
"This seems to be a common problem in this generation Impala, as well as the rear HVAC system on my 2016 Traverse. The blower motor is directly above the evaporator. As the brushes of the motor wear out, they shed metallic pieces onto the evaporator. The 2 dissimilar metals react with each other, and galvanic corrosion leads to pinhole leaks in the evaporator. Unlike the rear system in the Traverse, replacing the evaporator in the Impala requires the removal of most of the dashboard. Because of the extensive labor involved with that, it is a very expensive repair as far as HVAC systems go."
