Anonymous, OK (2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"The screen starts randomly making selections and goes through many selections on its own. Its distracting to the point of being dangerous. I dont want to pay the money for a new one. I liked this truck and wanted to keep it a long time but with the transmission failure and the screen problems Im very disappointed with it and dont want to keep it. Ill never get another GM product after this."

    Anonymous, GA (2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"Transmission went out at 65,000 miles. Replacement cost was $5,200. GM came down from $6,000 with a discount but would not do any more. The extended warranty expired a short time before the problem."

    Anonymous, GA (2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

"Transmission failed at 66000 miles . Had to replace"

    Anonymous, ME (2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

"Transmission went out around 111000 miles. It is a recurring problem with this model and Chevrolet will not recall. I was able to limp it into the local garage and $5500 later it was fixed. I felt the transmission in these trucks is very sluggish. I was Transmission went out about 115000 miles. All required maintenance done. I was able to limp it into a local garage and $5500 later. The transmission has always been sluggish and still is. Chevrolet is aware of these issues in the Silverado 1500 and doesnt care. There is no assistance from them. There have been so many problems with this vehicle including condenser transmission touchscreen and brake system (the only thing Chevrolet fixed). It was still cheaper to fix than buy a new one but I would not recommend the 2017."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

    Summary:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles.
