    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Rough shifting

"Since it was new. Rough shifting happens every other week. Problem is not resolved."

    Anonymous A., MI (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

"After shifting to drive, engine revs because its not in gear then it slams into gear when the engine is revved up. Then when shifting into the 2nd gear there is a delay and again it jolts when it engages."

    Anonymous A., ON (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country 5.3-L V8)
    Slipping transmission

"It slips only when first driven every day between 1 and 2nd gear then it's ok until the next day."

    Anonymous A., MI (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST 5.3-L V8)

"Known issue with GM 8 Speed transmission related to type of transmission fluid used from factory. GM replaced torque converter and fluid under warranty. Problem appears to have been resolved."

    Anonymous A., MO (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

"Started when new. Happens weekly mostly when the transmission is cold. Problem is not resolved."

    Anonymous A., MI (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)
    Transmission computer

"It would not release from 4-wheel drive. Happened as I was backing out of the garage. Acted like it didn't want to go. jerked like it was in 4-wheel drive on pavement. Managed to drive to mechanic 3 miles from home. He spent 3 hours figuring out the problem and getting it temporarily fixed. he checked with GM and they said the transmission computer had to be reset and could only be fixed by the dealer. My mechanic charged me for his time and offered to have his employee take it to the dealer, sit while the dealer fixed it and return it to his shop - said the dealer would charge $300 and I'd owe him for his time. I chose to take it myself as it would have taken him longer. I paid him for his time and took it myself. Dealer charged $400 to reset computer and said it was NOT covered by warranty."

    Anonymous A., (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Anonymous, MI (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom 5.3-L V8)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"Loss of power steering, multiple warnings on the display, then would not start. All caused by a bad ground in a wiring harness."

    Anonymous, NY (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

"We have had a problem with the truck lurching forward when the brake was applied and then let off. We had issues with this. We also have a radio that has very poor reception and a gritty sound. For a truck of this quality this is ridiculous. The truck has a left headlight that works sometimes and does not work sometimes. It fails when there is fog or dampness in the air. This is very unsafe. We have an extended warranty and they say they do not know if it will cover it. The dealer says it will cost 95 dollars to hook it to a machine to see what is going on. No easy change the light bulb fix."

    Anonymous, PA (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 6.2-L V8)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

Other major transmission & clutch problem

"Usually have a long highway trip then back down to start/stop city traffic. Harsh downshift from 2nd to first feels like you are being rear ended. Might not do it for 2 or 3 months and then do it every time you try to stop 20 times in a row. Never happens on dealership test drive!!!!!!!!"

    Anonymous A., NC (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST 5.3-L V8)
    Torque converter

"It was covered by a warranty. We did not have to pay for anything. The truck was bucking during acceleration and slow to shift."

    What Owners Say

    CV joint

"A grinding noise started about 30000 miles. Shortly thereafter, a vibration started felt at highway speeds. It was under warranty, but we were told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Took it to a different dealer, the reported they were able to fix the problem by replacing a bolt on the rear suspension. The problem was the same after that repair. Repeated complaints were met with derisions from the dealership. We continued to drive the vehicle, around town on low speeds. When the vehicle was no longer drivable, it was takin to an independently owned shop in the neighborhood. They found the problems with multiple items in the front end and stated that it was obviously broken for a long time. After their repair, the truck is fine."

    Anonymous, AZ (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

    Squeaks or rattles

"About two years, after purchasing the truck. The brakes would squeak when backing, then would stop when you put it in drive. Told the service advisor about the situation, told me the brakes, were fine. That dont make them , like they use to. Wont buy another CHEVROLET pickup."

Fuel injectors not working right. Needs new engine and other major work. A recall in Canada was issued for the oil line connectors, but not in the US."

    Anonymous, TX (2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Other electrical system problem

"My 2019 Silverado has had a series of loud clicking and clacking of what sounds like electrical items either behind the dash or in the engine compartment. This was from day one since new. Took it back to the dealer numerous times where they said it was normal. Repeat returns finally got a fuel system sylanoid replaced. The problem was better for a few weeks then returned. Took truck back again 3 times where they did nothing. Truck still has this loud clicking noises. It occurs 30 seconds after shutoff. Truck transmission has slipped since day one, the dealer service was awful, and so bad I found myself walking home and had to rent a Jeep just to get back home. When the truck was finally given back, the dash was all apart, parts on the console and top of the dash. The dash had several scratches on top, and the radio assembly was hanging out. I took the truck that way because that was better than going back into the belly of the beast...That was Kelley Chevrolet in Ft Wayne Indiana."
