What Owners Say
"A common problem with the Traverse's 6T75 (and all variants based on the 6T70) is a shift "flare" between the 1-2 and/or 2-3 shifts. Basically, due to poor valve body performance and torque converter design, the transmission experiences fluid pressures that are inadequate for a proper shift when the transmission lets go of the previous gear. So, the transmission waits until pressure builds and then engages the next gear. This time between shifts may seem like the transmission is slipping. But it's really more like the transmission is in neutral while waiting to engage the next gear. If you don't back off the throttle, the engine races slightly while waiting. The problem has gotten worse over several years. But the SUV is still drive-able with patience and technique applying throttle just right. GM denied warranty work on this problem after it initially started (shortly after other warranty covered repairs to the transmission). They stated that, to protect the transmission from damage, this is how the transmission is designed to shift when there's poor valve body performance."
