    What Owners Say

    Ball joints

""This is the first steering-part repair for this vehicle. These repairs cost approx $1500 (before taxes), but have definitely improved the safety and handling of the vehicle.""

    Anonymous A., ON (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

"Power steering hose/fitting leak. Easy repair."

Anonymous, VA (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

    Anonymous A., CA (2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.7-L V6)
Steering linkage (includes rack and pinion)

"The rack and pinion system failed - it was a blown seals I think so they had to replace the whole unit."

Anonymous, FL (2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.5-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

Anonymous, MI (2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.7-L V6)

Anonymous, ME (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)
    Interior lights

"Interior light remained on draining the battery. It was triggered by a faulty liftgate ajar warning. Resolved by replacing liftgate actuator."

Anonymous, ME (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)
    Keyless entry

"Sometimes doesnt unlock the car when nearby"

Anonymous, MI (2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.7-L V6)
    Warning lights

""Inexplicably the emergency flashers/hazard lights came on while the car was parked, almost as if the car had been hit or someone wad trying to steal it. None of this was happening. Disconnecting battery was only way to turn them off. Ultimately was able to find a used module that controls all a/c, radio, nav functions, etc at a junk yard. Ford wanted $2700 for a new unit IF THEY COULD FIND ONE. Cost of junk yard unit was $40. Apparently this module was used for a span of 8 to 10 yrs in various Ford similarly equipped models and was know to be faulty/unreliable. Never saw a recall on this issue.""

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"At about 52,000 miles, one could smell fuel around the vehicle if the fuel tank was over 3/4 full. At around 53,000 miles it was determined to be a crack in the fuel tank, which cost $800 to repair. A better resolution of replacing it with a new fuel tank would have cost $2,400."

Anonymous, TX (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

""At the spot where the sending unit goes into the top of the gas tank there was a crack, and when the car was running, it was seriously leaking fuel. The whole tank had to be replaced for about $2000""

Anonymous, NJ (2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

""Either a blown head gasket or a bad water pump. Either way, the oil/lubricating system and air intake filled with antifreeze. No warning lights until it was already failed. Estimates to replace the engine with a rebuilt unit with a warranty were $8,000-$14,000. One rebuilder refused to give a quote, stating that the same engine had a 80% failure rate during the warranty period. Absolutely disappointing. Otherwise, the car had been very reliable. We ended up selling the car to a retired mechanic rather than pay to rebuild the engine. We used our money to buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 to replace the Edge.""

    Anonymous A., WA (2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.5-L V6)
