What Owners Say
"Coolant intrusion in cylinders"
Anonymous, WA (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)"Design flaw on the top face of block which reduced the cross sectional area that the head gasket seated on. This resulted in head gasket failure allowing coolant into the cylinders. Ford paid 83% of the engine replacement cost and provided a vehicle when our car was in the shop. Model year 2018 forward issue was redesigned."
Anonymous, WI (2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"I started losing coolant, but did not have any leaks on the floor of the garage. I had to add more coolant several times over the next few months. One day the car overheated & I had to park it until it cooled down, then add coolant. I took it to a trusted auto repair shop. They told me there is a Ford Technical Service Bulletin (19-2208) on the issue and the fix is to replace the engine. Im going to get rid of the car. The EcoBoost engine has a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine cylinders. The only fix for this is replacing the engine. There is a class-action suit. It effect vehicles with that engine. 2013-2019 Ford Escapes, 2013-2019 Ford Fusions, 2015-2018 Ford Edges, 2016-2019 Lincoln MKCs, and 2016-2019 Lincoln MKZs"
Anonymous, NE (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Coolant leaking into valve. Engine died at 74000 miles. No recalls or replacement from Ford. Put new engine in at my own expense. Ecoboost engine are terrible."
Anonymous, NJ (2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Check engine light came on after a 4 hour trip Was able to still drive the car Went to ford dealership and they told me it wasnt uncommon and I needed a new engine I called ford motor Corp ( I was a loyal ford customer) and they offer a approx 40% discount on repair Unacceptable given the miles on the vehicle I bought a Toyota"
Anonymous, NV (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)""At 85,000 miles, the check-engine light came on. Within days the engine was running rough, and within a week it had died. The diagnosis was a head-gasket failure leading to total engine failure and replacement, approximately $10,000.""
Anonymous, MI (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)""The engine started consuming coolant at 128,000 miles. Apparently this is a known issue with Ford 2.0 L Ecoboost engines. The cylinder wall had cracked at the head. The engine was not repairable and it cost $7,000 to replace the long block. Ford had issued a technical bulletin outlining the issue but there was no assistance from Ford on repairing the issue. Apparently some engines were not even making it to 100k miles. My family are not likely to purchase a Ford in the near future unless they can confirm they have corrected their quality issues. The Edge has already had a replacement wheel bearing, transfer case and transmission flexplate put into it. It has been quite the lemon!""
Anonymous, MI (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Cracks developed in the engine around the channels that cool the engine. (The engine problems resulted in the subsequent transmission failure, but I dont understand it all.)"
Anonymous, OH (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
"January 2025 white white smoke began pouring from the tailpipe. The problem was diagnosed as a bad head gasket. it required a complete engine replacement."
Anonymous, NJ (2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
