    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"Frequently would not initialize CarPlay when iPhone 13 was connected via usb port in console. Same issue using my wifes iPhone 13. We tried multiple different cables. This occurred about 50% of the time. The issue was resolved by using a genuine Apple Lightning Cable. Ford charged me a $195 diagnostic fee to tell me this."

Anonymous, MD (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Display screen freezes up

"Display will freeze suddenly which only a soft reset will fix"

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.7-L V6 turbo)
    Display screen goes blank

"Blank screen was determined by Ford technicians to be the on board computer system that supports the on screen display. The estimate provided is $2000. I purchased a bumper to bumper extended from Ford when the car was purchased new. I was informed I would be responsible for whatever the extended warranty would not cover. The service rep had no idea how much the extended warranty might cover. I explained that in my opinion, the extended warranty should pay 100% less the $100 deductible. The service rep chuckled, rolled his eyes and said he would try to get the 3rd party extended warranty company to pay $500. This was the first I had heard my bumper to bumper extended warranty was serviced by a 3rd party. It was at this moment I realized I had been completely taken advantage of by Ford. During the purchase of the vehicle extended warranty never once was the mention of a 3rd party extended warranty. If I had know this to be the case, I would never have purchased an extended warranty on this vehicle. Now that I need to use the warranty, the 3rd party is not fairly paying for the repair. I thought Ford Motor company was who I was buying the extended warranty. I am so mad and feel there is little I can do."

Anonymous, MD (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Display will completely go away which doing a soft reset will solve. Display will freeze with the only resolve is a soft reset"

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.7-L V6 turbo)

"The infotainment system gradually started having problems. I made arrangements to take it to the dealer and the screen stopped working a few days before my appointment. They were able get it working after two days in the shop, but it began having different problems almost as soon as I got it back - phone pairing, Apple Car Play, etc. It's too much trouble to take it back when they have to keep it for testing at least two days every time."

Anonymous, TX (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"It makes phone calls when I first start the engine and I can not disconnect it with any of the buttons. After a few minutes it disconnects."

Anonymous A., MN (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Will no longer automatically connect to phone. Have to manually pair and connect each time. Since Apple Car Play doesn't work either, it is a safety issue."

Anonymous, TX (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

Anonymous, ON (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The transmission started intermittently slipping and gear hunting beginning at about 55,000 miles. It has gotten more frequent over time."

Anonymous A., WI (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The car lurches and appears to have no get up and go. Took it to be fixed at Ford dealership. Said it was slipping transmission and that it was fixed. Cost approx. $4000. Drove out of dealership and problem still prosisted. Have another appointment to check and repair problem. Will see how that all pans out."

Anonymous, OH (2020 Ford Edge Titanium Unsure)

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

If the rear drive unit seizes, there may be a loss of drive and/or a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Summary:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Edge, 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Escape and 2021 Lincoln Corsair and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. An inadequate amount of lubricant in the rear drive unit may cause seizure of the rear drive axle.
    What should you do:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the rear drive unit lubricant level. Axles found to have lubricant at the minimum level will be filled to the full level. Axles found to be below the minimum lubricant fill level will be replaced, free of charge. This recall began March 12, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
