    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Display screen freezes up

"It was an ongoing issue with all Ford edges but they ford applied an update and all works well."

Anonymous A., CO (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Display screen goes blank

"This issue was a problem for about 3-4 months. Eventually Ford put out an update for the computer system to clear this problem."

Anonymous A., OH (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

""The issue with the frozen screen caused other problems like phone pairing. It would not always pair properly. Again, the issue was addressed with the update.""

Anonymous A., OH (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Hardware replacement

"radio would change channels by itself - navigation would set and change locations by itself - a/c would turn off and on by itself - a nightmare"

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

    "Phone wasn't pairing"

Anonymous A., CA (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Rough shifting

""This transmission is best if you're a slow driver. If you're more of a spirited driver the transition has issues over revving which kills the gas mileage. Even if you are not needing to accelerate very quickly for some reason the system still likes to tack up the RPM to 4000 RPM.The other issue is going into reverse, requires much to much time to do this.""

Anonymous, SC (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"From the time we bought the car in 2022, there were shifting problems. We didn't recognize them as shifting problems at the time. This was our first Eco Boost engine, and we had heard that those engines sometimes sound like they are running at high RPMs when accelerating, so we assumed it was normal. It turns out that the transmission was likely faulty from the factory. Over the past couple of years, the funny "engine sound" began to be accompanied by what felt like engine stutter and short, rapid, minor jerking of the car at times. Nothing was detected during regular maintenance and the issue started out very minor, so we just kept going along. This grew slowly worse and about 9 months ago we took it to a mechanic for a full inspection. They found a very minor leak that they said was not urgent, but would eventually need to be addressed and it would get expensive, so we should have it looked at by a dealership service department since we have an after market service contract. Two months ago, the problem became very pronounced, especially upon accelerating at certain speeds (like around 20-25mph). We took it into a Ford dealership for service and their diagnosis found that the leak was actually coming from the transmission breather and that the transmission fluid was completely black. Their diagnosis was that the transmission needed to be fully replaced."

Anonymous, MT (2020 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Slipping transmission

"The transmission started slipping at about 65,000 miles. It was getting a little worse and I took it to the dealership and they didn't recommend anything. I asked a friend and did a lookup on the internet and they recommended getting the transmission flushed . I go a BG transmission flush and replace and now the transmission is working fine."

Anonymous, PA (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Transmission computer

"Very simple the Ford transmission computer is very undecisive on a shift patterns. When I first purchased the vehicle the shifting was horrendous and it took me many months of fighting with the dealership for them to finally take me serious and then to finally do a software upgrade which pretty much took care of the issue though it is not 100%. But definitely a big improvement from when I first got the car. But this also did not cure the amount of time it takes to go into reverse."

Anonymous, SC (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Transmission sensor or solenoid

""The shift solenoid failed and was remedied under warranty at no cost. But it did temporarily leave my wife stranded. After restarting, the car was able to limp to the dealer. The dealer was backlogged and it took nearly a week to get it back.""

Anonymous, FL (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Torque converter

"Car would jerk when driving slow in parking lots. Repla ced torque converter."

Anonymous, CA (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Transmission rebuild or replacement

""At 65,000 miles we experienced bucking, jerking and hard shifting. It thankfully has an extended CPO warranty because the dealer told us the transmission had started to eat itself from the inside out and even cracked the casing. A new unit was installed under warranty and the repair took around a month to complete.""

Anonymous A., FL (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""In the process now of having the problem assessed by Ford. Local repair shop indicated torque converter and replacement. The warranty we purchased from Ford will only replace with a refurbished transmission so now we are having Ford assess. The car perks/ hesitates when shifting thru acceleration, but not all times""

Anonymous, NC (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Driving long distance broke down on highway got towed to ford dealership estimate 9000.00 had it towed for 500.00 back home Amina transmission put in new transmission or rebuilt for 8000.00 looked it up found out ford recalled the transmission on the ford edge called and they said my vin number wasnt involved in the recall I find that hard to believe I believe I was scammed Ive been wanting to tell you about this glad you asked"

Anonymous, IL (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Car would jerk when driving slow in parking lots. Rebuilt transmission and replaced torque converter. Problem still persists but not as bad."

Anonymous A., TX (2020 Ford Edge ST 2.7-L V6 turbo)

"The back seat middle seat belt was accidentally inserted into the passenger side buckle. It could not be released. Took it to a Ford dealer and they said buy a new belt for $1,000 plus. I called Ford directly for advise. They said they cannot help me and I had to go to a Ford dealer. Frustrating situation."

Anonymous A., WI (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Failed and needed replacement along with control arm because they are one piece"

Anonymous, PA (2020 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Steering linkage (includes rack and pinion)

"At around 99,000 miles, the steering suddenly began slipping and catching. This created a very serious, dangerous, and scary driving situation. This occurred days after having the transmission replaced, which involved removing the engine, so we assumed it might be air that needed to be bled out of the power steering system. We took the car to a Ford dealership for diagnosis. The dealership found that the rack and pinion were almost completely worn out and need to be replaced."

Anonymous, MT (2020 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous, SC (2020 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Sensors (includes O2 or oxygen sensor)

""Check Engine Light came on during a 12,000 road trip. Stopped in a Ford Dealer in Nevada. Service Manager performed a diagnostic on the spot. Notified us the car was safe to drive. Just an emission sensor needed to be replaced. Once we completed the trip and were back home, we had our local Ford Dealer Service Dept replace the part under the extended warranty. We paid a $100 deductible.""
