Very expensive to repair. all happened during daytime, so was able to get help. Very frustrating. Will sell after I replace battery again, after sitting for three months."

Anonymous, NM (2013 Ford Escape SEL 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"My car would bot start. I got a jump and drove to the dealer in Clearwater. That is not the dealer closeest to me but to where I was when it went down. Ford dealer replace the battery and I drove away. The next day it happened again. I had it towed to the Ford dealer closest to me who got it back to me the next day. There were three out of six fuses that control the battery were bad. This dealer said that the other Ford dealer should have seen this the day before. It has been fine since."

Anonymous, FL (2013 Ford Escape SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Started after inspection in 2022. Brakes wearing out. Needed new tie rods. Currently in process of getting them replaced."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Ford Escape Titanium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Why must rotor replacement be standard with brake replacement? The rotors ground briefly, but the garage said rotors are made thin now to conserve weight. As a result, they must be replaced at every brake change. That's frustrating."

Anonymous A., IL (2013 Ford Escape)
    Squeaking

"Squeak, grinding noise heard while car moving at slow speed. Initially thought front, but turned out to be rear driver's side break caliper drag/release. Dealer said to watch for further issues. Engine Cooling

Radiator, cooling fan, water pump, thermostat, antifreeze leaks, overheating.

    What Owners Say

    Antifreeze leaks

"with about 72000 miles on it, car would mysteriously lose coolant over time. Once a month would have to refill the reservoir. But, never at any time were there any drips or leaks in driveway where car is parked. So happening only when driving. Mechanic found issue was a coolant hose assembly that was leaking at a T fitting. Seems only when coolant was hot and under pressure it was leaking from fitting. But there were no standard hose clamps one could simply tighten. the entire 3 hose assembly had to be replaced as one at a cost of over $400 parts and labor."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Overheating

"Repeated problem over several years. on long trips, temps over 95 degrees, car will run fine for hours then suddenly show rapid temp rise on gauge and warning lights to shut off. Coolant in reservoir shows bubbling, but there's not steam, and no coolant leaking anywhere from system. After 10 mins, and allow car to cool down, can restart and drive again, for long periods, and then randomly it happens again. This has never happened in regular commuter driving."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Radiator

Anonymous, NM (2013 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Transmission sensor or solenoid

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Turbo or supercharger

"My issue does not directly relate to the vehicle so it may not be valid. It is more how the dealership handled the evaluation for needed recall items. Diagnostics on the computer control systems resulted in a diagnosis of a failing boost bypass solenoid. The dealership decided that this 1-hour job and $120 part cost (when purchased from the dealership) should be billed out at over $700. Calling other Ford service centers returned estimates of $350 to $500. The dealership also chose to advise me that I needed two tires to be replaced at a cost of $900 for a pair of tires not a set of four. There was also an attempt to convince me that my transmission fluid was bad and needed to be changed when this had already been done less than 4 months beforehand. As well I informed that three recalls I expected to be addressed didn't need to be as they already been completed. This was puzzling since a representative at Ford customer service had advised these recalls still needed to be completed. This information was given to me after Ford customer service looked up my vehicle by VIN number, about eight weeks before the service appointment at a local dealership. Ford really needs to do some audits on their dealership network."

Anonymous, WA (2013 Ford Escape SEL 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
    What should you do:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
    Summary:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
    What should you do:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct.
