What Owners Say
"The car could not go in reverse. It took about 4 months to get all the parts to rebuild the transmission."

Anonymous, NY (2020 Ford Expedition XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)"When it was only one or two years old it would occasionally have extremely loud "bangs" and missed shifts when going to pass. On one of these occasions it showed an error message on the dashboard. I Googled it and saw that this is a common issue on Ford 10-speed transmissions. When taken to my Ford dealer, they would say that they couldn't find anything about the problem. Then at about 115,000 miles, it started throwing an error code every time I started saying that there was a transmission/drive system fault that had to be serviced. I was then told by two different Ford service departments that my only option was to replace the transmission. Transmissions won't last forever - I get that - but dying so soon after 100k miles seems relatively short, and particularly when there are so many Ford owner message boards talking about the same issue with this 10-speed, makes me think that this is some kind of known issue."

"The problem started about a month after we bought it, used. If I start the vehicle and immediately put it in reverse, its slips or drops. Sounds terrible. If I put the vehicle in neutral for a few seconds before putting it in reverse, it seems to be better and not happen as often."
