What Owners Say
"The F-150 would ping and clang until the engine would finally start. It would usually do this for 30 seconds to over a minute and sometimes I would have to turn the engine off and try to start it again but this was rarely. The noises happened every time I started it but sometimes it would take longer to start. The problem was resolved when I took it to my dealership to be repaired."
Anonymous A., TX (2017 Ford F-150 Unsure Unsure)"Always when turning left only from a complete stop. Give it some gas to get out into traffic and it sounded like you were cutting the head off something, or, tin cans being driven over, and bang bang bang the whole time. then it would stop after about 30-60 seconds. Took it into the Ford dealer where we had all our maintenance done and they said there was nothing wrong. Just before the regular warranty was up we took it in and told them to keep it until they could figure it our, they said they had no record of the problem, which was another nightmare but that one is taken care of. so, they fixed it, so they promised, saying it was a timing chain, and charged us nothing. Now, it's under the extended warranty where we have a deductible and they probably will make us pay to go thru it all over again. Tired of this noise and the run around, the noise is so bad, someone else must have the same problem."

Anonymous, ID (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)""Not sure what exactly is leaking, but oil saturates the "splash" guard that is installed under the engine and when I park on a sloped driveway, the oil falls on the ground and leaves a stain. I suspect it is the plastic oil pan that leaks when the crankcase pressure increases under heavy acceleration""
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)"At about 90,000 miles (in 2024), the plastic oil pan warped and began to leak. Then the oil plug was stripped during an oil change. Both had to be replaced. We used an independent mechanic, not the dealer because it was half the price."

Anonymous, PA (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)"September 2024 started when Message Center would read "No oil pressure" and oil pressure gauge would read "0" when driving. It was resolved soon after with new oil pressure sensor replacement by local Ford dealer. This replacement sensor charge was $550. Six months later, the truck was experiencing the same issue. I returned to the same dealer and the issue was resolved, but it took 8 days to repair. They gave me a loaner and did not charge me to fix the issue, which I was quite happy about. So far the issue seems to be resolved."
