    First Take
The Yukon has impressive trailer-towing capability, but the powertrain remains a bit unrefined. The Denali models have a powerful 6.2-liter V8 and AWD. They typically seat seven or eight but offer little cargo space behind its cramped third-row seat. 4WD models have a selectable full-time system that can remain engaged at all times. ESC is standard, but handling and braking are so-so. The ride is supple and controlled. The Tahoe hybrid got 19 mpg overall in our tests, a big improvement over the 5.3-liter V8's 14 mpg. The six-speed automatic slightly improved fuel economy and acceleration.
