    First Take
The Yukon's ride is supple and controlled, with seating for seven or eight and good interior quality. But there is little cargo room behind the cramped third-row seat. Trailer-towing capability is impressive. Denali models have a powerful 6.2-liter V8 and AWD. 4WD models have a selectable full-time system that can remain engaged at all times. ESC is standard, but handling and braking are so-so. We recorded 19 mpg in our Tahoe hybrid, a considerable improvement over the 14 mpg from the 5.3-liter V8. The six-speed automatic slightly improved fuel economy and acceleration.
