What Owners Say

Catalytic converter

"Check engine light came on about 3 weeks ago and stayed on whenever the engine was running. Auto parts store connected their OBDII reader to the data port and determined the issue was that I needed a new catalytic converter and associated parts. A mechanic friend said that might be accurate, or maybe the sensor itself was giving a bad reading. Before the mechanic friend could check for himself, the check engine light turned off. Mechanic friend says as long as the light stays off and the car appears to be running normally, don't worry about it."

It has persisted for the last four months and estimated repair would be $1,200 and would have to be done at a dealership because of the need for a dealer level scan tool to program it.
