What Owners Say

Apple CarPlay

"It never seems to work right and Im taking it there and they tell me its fine but it doesnt work and they told me I need a new an updated phone. Which is bull!"

Anonymous, PA (2017 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"chronic problem with apple carplay when wired to show GPS - it seems to freeze the onboard computer"

Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda Accord 3.5-L V6)

"Apple Car Play has not worked properly for past 5 years. Freezes up after about 10 minutes."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Backup or other camera/sensors

"Camera no longer works at all and we don't have money to fix it."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda Accord)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"The clock resets to 10:00 am every time I start the car up. I took to the dealer and they did several diagnostics, but in the end they could not fix. So I would have to spend almost $2000 to get a new infotainment system. I went with a $10 LED stickon clock"

Anonymous, WA (2017 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Hardware replacement

"The problem with the infotainment unit started less than a year after I purchased the car. It would freeze up and/or reboot itself at random times. Frustrating because you can replicate the problem on demand at the dealership. Finally got the unit replaced under extended warranty. Then after a couple of weeks it began the same behavior. I'm not confident they replaced/repaired the problematic component the first time. I chose to ignore it due to the hassle of trying to explain/prove the issue, plus the inconvenience of being without transportation. Then in the summer of 2023 the speakers began playing static through them at deafening volumes at random times. There were little beeping/chirping electronic noises interspersed with static. The infotainment unit would not respond at all. It could not even be turned off presenting a dangerous situation where I was unable to hear anything around me due to the blaring static noise. The only thing that would stop the noise was shutting off the car completely, and sometimes it would start back up again when the car was re-started. Again, I could not replicate the problem on demand at the dealership, so I had to make a recording to demonstrate to the dealership what the issue was. They had heard of other Honda models with this issue but not Accords. I was finally able to get the unit replaced - supposedly with a new unit, rather than a refurbished model. But the freezing/rebooting started up a couple of months after it was replaced, so I really don't consider the problem "resolved". I'm just tired of dealing with it. Honda dealerships do not have enough loaner vehicles so each time I take my car, I'm without transportation for days. I have had so many issues with this car in the few years I've owned it, that I will never by a Honda again."

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Transmission rebuild or replacement

"Very disappointed in having to replace the transmission. Have had good experience with Honda in the past and never had transmission problems."

Anonymous, (2017 Honda Accord LX)

"We have owned this car since new and it has only been serviced by the Honda dealer. all required maintenance and more has been since new. In December the transmission service was performed as specified in the manufacturers service manual. After one week the transmission stopped working and the car had to be towed to back to the dealer. The dealer replaced the fluid again and the transmission still didn't work. The transmission had to be replaced at 59,000 miles. Fortunately we have an extended warranty which covered 80% of the repair."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda Accord EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"We had a transmission light come on. We took it to the dealer and they replaced the transmission (under warranty). They said it was very rare."

Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Shocks or struts

"The main center nut on the front driver side strut came loose. The observable symptom was a loud rattle when the car went over a bump. From non-Honda online sources, we determined that this nut could cause the rattle problem. An initial test after we tightened the nut indicated that tightening the nut fixed the problem. It is important to keep this nut tight, for otherwise the shock absorber will be damaged. It should be noted that Honda no longer offers service manuals to individuals. I called Honda and they directed me to a third-party service. The third party service charged me $30 for one day access, but never provided the access. The payment was to store.honda.com. I called Honda about this and they were very rude and offered no help. In the past, Honda had provided access to manuals for a fee and that was acceptable. All I want to find out is the correct torque ratings for the suspension nuts and bolts and any service tips they might have. The new Honda policy is totally unacceptable and we will never purchase a Honda product again unless they start providing manuals. Consumer Reports should note this unacceptable policy in their review of Honda. Most other car manufacturers do provide a way for individuals to access service information."

Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda Accord EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"Started with noise in front end around first qtr of year. Had to replace the shock in second at of year"

What Owners Say

Other body problem

"The front drivers seat has poor padding under the drivers buttocks. This problem has gotten worse as the car ages. It is now uncomfortable enough that a thick pillow is needed to sit on to make the drivers seat tolerable to sit in. After having this problem I did internet searches and found this is a problem with Honda Accords. In researching new vehicles, I test drove a Honda Accord 2024 hybrid. The same problem was found in the new vehicles drivers seat."

Engine Minor

Accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer, engine mounts, engine knock or ping, fuel leaks, oil leaks.

/ 5

What Owners Say

Other minor engine problem

"In the summer of 2023, while I was driving on the highway, the check engine light came on and the engine began missing. When I arrived at a safe destination, I shut the car off. When I restarted it, every warning light on the dash lit up and it cycled through every warning message on the dash. It was running but idling very rough. When inspected by my local shop, they said it was completely out of oil (even though I had NO indication from the car that it was due for an oil change, nor had I driven over 5,000 since my last oil change), and one of the spark plugs had shattered inside the cylinder. They proceeded with an oil "change", replaced the spark plug and recommended I get with a dealership because this was a KNOWN ISSUE with my type of engine. When I went to the dealership, they looked at it and determined it for sure needed a "re-ring" and they recommended I pay them to tear the engine apart to see if there was further damage - all at MY EXPENSE - unless or until the extended warranty company agreed to pay for it. I fought with them for weeks because should be no way that a Honda engine should be having this kind of problem after only 75,000 miles. The dealership REFUSED to help so I took it back to my local mechanic. He said there wasn't much he could do except help me keep an eye on it, which he has for the past several months. I've had to pay for more frequent oil changes and spark plug examinations/replacements, but it has not broken down on me again yet. However, as soon as I'm able I will be selling/trading in this car, and I will never buy another Honda vehicle again."
