""This Honda Civic LX-S was bought new while I resided in the US. In retrospect the clear coat never looked right, it looked like it was laid on top of the base colour. I moved back to Canada in 2013 in 2017 the paint started to discolour which was a result of the clear coat starting to lift. Fast forward four years and large patches of clear coat were flaking away. I think American Honda did have a warranty extension to cover this premature deterioration but I believe it expired after 10 years and Im not sure it would even be covered after importing it back to Canada in 2013. That said; it is my wifes daily driver and she is very happy with the car. We did have it rust-proofed on a few occasions which has kept the body very sound and it has been very reliable and mechanically sound. With the cost of new vehicles pretty much doubled since we bought this car, we decided to have the minimal body work done and the car painted, maybe well get several more years of reliable service! Other than clear coat peeling, its been a great car.""
