    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"From the day I purchased the car, there was an annual problem with the heating/Air conditioning system!!! Warranty covered it but when warranty runs out, it will become an expense which will be necessary to incur if I want heat in our -10 to -40 winters!!!"

Anonymous, MB (2018 Honda Civic EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"It broke 10 days after we purchased. We were told "it happens with this generate of civics.""

Anonymous, WA (2018 Honda Civic EX 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"compressor failed and needed replaced to cool car properly"

Anonymous, WA (2018 Honda Civic Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Compressor was blown and needs to be replaced"

Anonymous, HI (2018 Honda Civic LX 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"The air conditioning didnt work, but the dealership did the work for free due to an extended warranty provided by Honda."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Honda Civic EX Unsure)

"Does not make cold air. I have an appointment to have it fixed"

Anonymous, VT (2018 Honda Civic Si 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous A., TX (2018 Honda Civic EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Automatic climate control

"air con will start blowing warm air even when set to lo. they can't seem to fix the problem"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Blower (fan) motor

"A very screechy sounding fan noise developed thankfully in early spring so luckily heat wasn't needed as much as in winter. This must be a part of a very faulty heating/A/C system that has given me an annual problem for 5 years since it was new. one year it was the heater, for 3 years it was the A/C system, and this year the heater fan and no heat production."

Anonymous, MB (2018 Honda Civic EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Condenser

"The condenser was defective from the factory. A slow leak due to improper welding rendered the AC dysfunctional. Honda issued a warranty extension and the problem seemed to be fixed. At my 30,000 mile check the condenser was identified as leaking again. Problem not resolved. However, as of this writing the AC was still functioning. Will know for sure in the summer"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Civic Si 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Had to return twice to the dealership to replace the condenser unit under warranty. This is a known problem for this model year and Honda has extended the warranty on the cooling system by 10 years. The dealership replaced the condensor twice, in December 2023, and again in June 2024."

Anonymous, ON (2018 Honda Civic LX 2.0-L 4 Cyl)
    Other climate system problem

"The compressor/condenser seals have been replaced twice under warranty but the A/C is still making noise. The A/C has not quit working but it is a concern."

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Civic EX-T 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Air conditioning noticed not working in April 2024. To be diagnosed this week."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda Civic EX-T 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Refrigerant leaks

"A/C gradually became less effective over time, and was eventually diagnosed with several leaks in the system."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda Civic LX 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"Repair done at dealership, leak occurred again"

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda Civic 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    "Tire wear"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Civic EX)

    "Fuel lock"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Civic 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

"gas tank fill cover had it's electric latch break again. Looking on the internet, this is very common for Honda Civics. The government should look into doing a recall as it is expensive to have parts ordered and replaced, and takes forever to get the parts in because so MANY Civics have this part fail."

    Anonymous A., AZ (2018 Honda Civic EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    Anonymous A., NC (2018 Honda Civic EX-T 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"I received a recall notice for the fuel pump. I have not had the problem as described, however the recall notice said replacement parts were not available. I received another notice that said the parts were now available but only for cars experiencing the problem. The problems described included total engine failure even at freeway speed due to fuel strangulation. Also, problems starting and idling were also identified. The notice also said that the State of California would not issue a new smog certificate to cars with the faulty fuel pumps due to the fuel pumps role in the emissions control system."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Civic Si 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
