    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The car would blow cold on the drivers side but warm on the passenger side. After awhile of driving it would cool down the vehicle quite a bit, but it was always operating on max."

    Anonymous, AR (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L)

"AC stopped working. It was going to be expensive to fix. Honda had a recall on the part and fixed for free"

Anonymous, MD (2017 Honda CR-V LX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"AC stopped working and was diagnosed with a bad seal. Dealer charged us over $3,000 to replace. We filed a complaint with Honda and were reimbursed about $2500. Honda was aware of a bad seal which leaked coolant."

Anonymous, WI (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"AC compressor failure / no AC"

    Anonymous A., KS (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Brought car in for unrelated issue (squealing breaks). Was told of A/C Compression Shaft Seal Leak recall when at dealership. A day after car was returned, AC system stopped working. Unfortunately, the fan system on the CRV has always blown hot air so living without AC in the summer is painful. I am on a waitlist for a fix but the waitlist is long and I doubt it will be resolved this year."

    Anonymous A., ON (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The A/C was not pumping out cold air. I got a recall from Honda saying that my car may have problems with the A/C caused by a defective part. It turns out that was the problem. I had the recall fixed and the A/C works fine now."

Anonymous A., VA (2017 Honda CR-V LX Unsure)

"IT happened once along with leaking refrigerant and was expensive to replace"

    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"When heating and cooling, the blower does not blow with enough force to cool or heat the passenger area to my satisfaction. weather."

Anonymous, MN (2017 Honda CR-V Unsure)

"Blower fan wouldn't work at low speeds and had a loud knocking noise in the cab."

Anonymous, AZ (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The air conditioning system seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes its stops blowing air altogether for long periods of time, and then suddenly will come back on. Error codes from the on board diagnostic system indicate that the blower motor needs to be replaced."

    Anonymous A., MD (2017 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Evaporator

"The air conditioner did not blow cold air, only warm air."

    Anonymous, OR (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Other climate system problem

"Air conditioning stopped cooling. A shorted wire damaged the 'high side AC pressure switch' which needed to be replaced."

    Anonymous A., NY (2017 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda CR-V 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"There was no other issue...I may have clicked on something I didn't mean too."

    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Refrigerant leaks

"I have had leaks twice that were fixed with a hose replacement. It was very expensive because the refrigerant had to be replaced"

    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"It was a recall on the system but I had already had it fixed before I got the recall notification."

Anonymous, OR (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The climate system lost all refrigerant when a cooling hose burst."

    Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Leak found last summer/fall in line. Not covered by recall."

    Anonymous A., NC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Lack of cooling due to refrigerant leak. No leak detected by service company. Refrigerant added in a couple of days (June 2024) Operation is fine. This is the 2nd time in the last 3 three years that this repair has been made. No leak found from previous incident."

    Anonymous, FL (2017 Honda CR-V EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"They called it a failed "receiver pipe". No idea what this is actually."

Anonymous, IN (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"AC was blowing warm air and I think it was a leak and a condenser problem. Had to replace part of the system and it was about $1300. Again my car probably only had 12,000+ miles on it and we live in Michigan so we only use the AC a few months a year and I park it every night in the garage. Again Honda said I didn't qualify for any recalls. So in the last year or so my repairs are over $3000"

    Anonymous, MI (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"All AC hoses had leaks. Was first time turned AC on for warm weather this year. One hose replacement was replaced free of charge as it was something Honda sent a this may happen letter. I have an extended warranty and it covered the other hose replacements cost except for $50"

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Backup or other camera/sensors

"It's very intermittent I was always able to clear it by changing gears or shutting down referred it to dealer a number of times they tried many fixes but no success because the trouble is so intermittent never there when I take it in.It is not a big deal because it's always cleared fast"

Anonymous, ON (2017 Honda CR-V LX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Display screen freezes up

"display screen freezes with "multiple" warning lights"

    Anonymous, PA (2017 Honda CR-V EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Display freezes and you are not able to use touchscreen"

Anonymous, PA (2017 Honda CR-V EX Unsure)

"Periodically the display screen will freeze. Generally, this is when the Navigation screen is selected, though you may not be using the Navagation feature when this happens. When rebooted, generally screen will work again."

    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
    Display screen goes blank

"When the screen goes blank you lose access to many functions of the vehicle--e.g., radio, navigation system, map, climate controls, etc. When you lose those functions, you have to reboot the system, sometimes multiple times. We have also been unable to start the car when the display screen goes blank. It is a terrible safety issue when you are driving and everything goes blank. We know that this is a known problem with this year but when we have taken it to the Honda Dealership to fix it, they won't even acknowledge that there is a problem."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The screen seems to go blank when the car is hot; either it is a hot day or it is winter when the heater is on. It will often start with the screen cycling through the brightness menu. It sometimes causes the radio to change stations or menus. I haven't had anyone look at it because it doesn't happen consistently enough for me to be confident that it will be happening when I take it to a mechanic. I don't have confidence in the screen to use the Android Auto to navigate when I take a long road trip."

Anonymous A., VA (2017 Honda CR-V LX Unsure)

"Periodically the screen goes blank. If you reboot it generally will begin working again. This is very annoying."

    Anonymous, TX (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"It glitches and comes back after Turing car off"

    Anonymous, IL (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"intermittent when starting. when it goes blank I cannot tune radio, use phone, etc. I have not yet taken it to dealer since I doubt they will find it."

    Anonymous A., NY (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Display constantly blinks to different screens & goes blank. Recently the navigation system added all sorts of locations when this happened. So many locations I had to delete my recent address because so many incorrect ones were automatically added"

    Anonymous, CA (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The screen will occasionally fully dim without the ability to adjust or go black. The only way to reset it is the power off and back on."

Anonymous, CO (2017 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"When Im driving and using CarPlay it just goes blank. Especially when Im using Google Maps to navigate. Im connected via USB cable."

    Anonymous, CA (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Hardware replacement

"The entire computer had to be replaced. Hiwever they wanted to chg me fir an update extra 150 but I argued how can you sell a product not updated? So far no problem as I declined update cost."

    Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Updating the map for the nav system is very difficult to update. Garmin is the system that Honda uses and it took hours to update. It is also not very accurate nor a good as other systems available today."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Updates should be included no chg at service center or by online videos"

    Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Interior computer module, $900, which ran battery down overnight."

    Anonymous A., TX (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Fuel injection system

"Fuel injection system briefly failed, causing engine to stall during hot conditions. Recall was later issued."

    Anonymous, MO (2017 Honda CR-V LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"In December 2023 the engine started making noise. The car had recently been repaired by a body shop and returned to us only days before noises started. Our car had needed body work after being struck in Sept while parked. Previously serviced by Honda dealer for brakes, tires, oil etc and all working fine. When stopped and turned off, the oil dipstick was found to be dry. The noise continued. After several hundred miles of mostly highway driving, the tailgate stopped latching closed when any buttons were pressed. Then on the next road trip the oil and coolant both showed empty when checked at an AutoZone (per call to Honda dealer). All the dashboard lights then flashed and the engine froze, stranding us. Tha car was towed to the nearest Honda dealer, where the engine was found to have blown cylinders 2&4 and estimate of nearly $6000. Due to insurance company, extended warranty and body shop all playing hot potato for several more weeks, wondering what was or wasnt anybodys responsibility while I continued to pay for car rental, the car was eventually towed from CT to the home dealer in MA in Feb 2024. When tested on the same equipment as 2023, the fuel injector system showed failure and leakage into the engine. That turned into approx $2000 in March. Then a low tire pressure prompt returned the 2017 Honda CR-V Touring to the dealer within the month. One tire was damaged and repaired under warranty, but the AWD required at least another tires replacement and realignment; and then the rear brakes were found to need replacement, bringing the next total to around $2300. Insurance (USAA) has gone up. The extended warranty (Zurich) considers none of the 2023-2024 history their responsibility after talking with the dealer service rep. And the tailgate continues to require manual closure. Altogether a miserable situation for a car that used to be reliable and low aggravation with scheduled dealer service."

    Anonymous, (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"We had an error message that resulted in the mechanic indicating us to avoid using the vehicle as much as possible. The parts were back ordered for months. My wife and I were required to use my car."

    Anonymous, CT (2017 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Engine ran rough when cold. Check engine light came on with a cylinder running lean. This happened once but Ive read theres a widespread problem with that model so we brought it in."

    Anonymous, NC (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Started with all the display lights flashing and coming on at different times. The dealer confirmed that it was a fuel injector problem and that they would have to be replaced. The dealership was not willing to replace them for free or give a discount even though it was less than 90,000 miles and is a known problem. The price from the dealer was excessive and the car was taken to another auto repair shop to have new fuel injectors installed. It has been running fine since the repair was done."

    Anonymous A., GA (2017 Honda CR-V LX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"We had all the warning lights for systems of the car come on intermittently when starting and the dealer said it was the fuel injection system needing replacement. We took it to an independent shop who cleaned the injectors and the problem went away initially but still occurs. The car is driveable at this point still."

    Anonymous A., FL (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Problem caused car to report multiple problems - brakes, power steering, hill start assist, vehicle stability, etc. I was coinvinced this was an electrical problem for over a year. The dealership finally convinced me the fuel injectors were the issue and it appears they were right. I am not happy that the CPU reports all sorts of issues that are not the cause."

Anonymous, KY (2017 Honda CR-V LX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Under warranty my cat stalled on a on ramp. Had it towed to honda & the fuel injectors were going bad. All were replaced un warranty"

    Anonymous, CA (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Catalytic converter

"The catalytic warning light came on. Service technician said there was water in the converter. Resulting in our having to replace the converter. They had no explanation for how that could have happened. They would not cover the converter under warranty. The car is garage kept. We did not drive thru any deep water. To date, we have not found anyone who can explain how water could have entered into the catalytic converter."

    Anonymous A., SC (2017 Honda CR-V Touring)

    Anonymous, NH (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Keyless entry

"Low battery warning for the key fob came on on one of the hottest days of summer. I have changed the batteries in both key fobs 2-3 times previously without any issues at all. This time, we were grocery shopping so I picked up the batteries while we were there and changed when we got to the car. For some reason this time, the key fob became un programmed when I did this and left us and our groceries stranded in the parking lot with our groceries and ice cream on a hot July afternoon. We remedied it by having a family member drive an hour one-way to bring the second fob. When I changed the battery in the second fob at home, the same thing happened. I tried a different brand of batteries. $400+ later at the dealership, they were unable to repair or re-pair and I left with 1 brand new working key fob. Due to budget, I was unable to get the much needed second fob."

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"Engine cylinders seized up due to lack of oil getting to them. The car had oil and regular oil changes. The engine failed at 75,000 miles because of a manufacturing defect. Honda USA would not take responsibility because it was out of warranty. We also were told that the part to repair it was $8400 and would take months to find. Our only good option was to trade the car in at a lower value then it should have been. We are very unhappy with Honda."

    Anonymous, OH (2017 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
    Other major engine problem

"When I brought the car in for the annual state inspection, I was to,d it needed all new fuel injectors (46,000 miles). This seemed very early in the life of the engine for this failure."

Anonymous, NH (2017 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"We bought our CRV new in 2017 and the first winter we experienced gas in the oil and have had the issue ever since. Honda Servicing performed a service bulletin on it but didnt fix the issue. I have been changing the oil at 50% oil life or more as needed."

    Anonymous A., WI (2017 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"2017 CRVs have a known problem with oil dilution and my car has this problem. Checking the dipstick, the oil pan is overfilled past the line and the oil smells strongly of gas. Anonymous, IN (2017 Honda CR-V EX)
Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"The paint peel is a known recalled item on this model. However, they wouldn't repaint the entire vehicle, only the section that was currently peeling. The last time it took two weeks and they do not compensate for the use of a rental vehicle or other means of substitute transportation which is why I do not want to get the next peeling section done."

Steering linkage (includes rack and pinion)

"Steering wheel developed a slight resistance when initially turned, resulting in over correction, especially at highway speeds. Honda has had a few problems with the rack and pinion power steering unit of the CR-V and Civic of this era and recalled some of them, but my VIN was not in this group. The Honda dealer verified the problem and did an excellent job, as the car now drives like new."

"When driving on the highway, a warning light came on intermittently. The dealer said the problem was the speed sensor for the ABS system. He said the solution was to replace the wiring harness to the sensor and/or replace the ABS module. The problem never came back after I got off the highway. So I declined the repair. I have driven 3000 miles since that happened, and I have never had a problem since. I think the problem was a loose connector, and when they took it off to troubleshoot, they reconnected the it securely afterwards."
