    Anonymous A., ON (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"My AC did not work for over a year. It was intermittent, working about 30% of the time. I took it to 2dealersfor a total of 4 times. Each time they told me it worked fine and then proceeded to tell me how to work the AC on a car I had owned for 5 years. Last week I took it to a local shop. He found a frayed wire and it is now fixed. My main concern is the quality of care at 2 major dealerships and how they treated me, a woman."

    Other climate system problem

"started end of summer 2023. Would not cool anymore As winter was coming did not try to have it fixed until spring of 2024. Was told would have to pay $550 to run a diagnostic test Found nothing wrong except it was out of freon. was told there were no leaks. was suggested not enough freon was put in car when it was manufactured. That seemed odd to me but the A/C works fine now"

    Anonymous, TN (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L Unsure)

"The air condition completely stopped working. The dealer found that rodents chewed the wiring to the AC. Dealer corrected the problem. Unfortunately it was expensive (around $800) and was not covered by warranty."

    Refrigerant leaks

"My dealership replaced the seals and gaskets and reload the refrigerant at no cost to me. This is the second time that I have had to have parts replaced on the ac in my Honda CR-V. The first time cost me over $800 and I never did know why the metal tubing failed. I certainly had not suffered any damage to my car and I will always believe it was a mechanical failure that was not properly installed when the car was assembled at the factory."

Anonymous, ON (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"I started noticing that the cold air was not as cold as it used to be last fall. During the first hot days this spring (April 2024) I noticed a definite lack of cool when running the air conditioning. I took the car to my dealer for evaluation. They found 2 leaks, one of which ended up being related to a recall issue Honda was aware of and the other was covered under an extended warranty. The repairs only cost me $100 total. This resolved the issue."

    Anonymous A., NC (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

I have tried resetting the display numerous times and the voice directions have only come back erratically. I have also received errant low tire pressure warnings that were not low at all. I suspect there is some type of electrical problem in the safety/display features causing all these problems."

    Anonymous A., KY (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

    Display screen freezes up

"The radio would alternate between radio playing and screen brightness view in rapid succession. The only way to correct was to turn off engine and allow computer to reboot. Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Display screen often shows numerous car system error messages that aren't real."

Anonymous, AL (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Display screen goes blank

"The screen will go blank, then pop on, then off, making a clicking noise. Seems to happen when very hot. Sometimes, restarting the car will reset it for a short while."

    Anonymous A., NY (2018 Honda CR-V LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"When sunlight hits the screen at a certain angle the screen suddenly cycles rapidly through different apps then goes blank and cant be turned back on. Frustrating when trying to adjust climate control!"

    Anonymous A., FL (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

    Anonymous A., MT (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The display screen sporadically starts blinking on the brightness level and eventually blanks out. Restarting the car resolves it. Has occurred four times, twice on two different long trips."

    Anonymous A., UT (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"If I am playing music with my ipod, Apple Play doesnt work. The screen has also gone blank and returns when I turn the control knob off"

    Anonymous A., PA (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

The screen remained blank when I turned the vehicle on and off. I called the dealership and scheduled an appointment. They ran diagnostics and the problem fixed itself."

    Anonymous A., LA (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Intermittent issues that were very annoying"

Anonymous, ON (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The blank screen is an infrequent problem, but is cured using the same remedy I used for freeze-ups - holding the power button down until the unit reboots."

    Hardware replacement

"My screen goes blank, radio, navigation system, everything on screen goes blank and starts beeping then comes back on then off then on and off. I cant turn it off or on it just keeps beeping. The only thing I can do to correct this is to pull over. Turn the car off. Then turn it on and it works correctly. I have told the dealer but they say it has to be doing it so they can see what it does. Its unpredictable! You never know when it will do it. (Its like there is a short in the wiring of the system system.) Very frustrating! They would not check the system."

    Anonymous, MO (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L Unsure)
    Heads-up display

"The display flashed 15 different failure warnings in 90 seconds. The 1st time it happened I had my car towed to the dealer they kept mycar all day and charged me $200 just to look at it. The 2nd time I took it to a local shop he fixed it in 5 min and did not charge me anything."

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Radio

"3 months into my purchase the radio system started going berserk. About ever 30 seconds - "Beep" the screen would go blank. Another "Beep" it would change radio stations. "Beep" it would shut off. "beep" it would turn back on... I logged a called with Honda and like many of the other calls I logged with Honda, their response was the typical "we know about it and we're probably not going to do anything about it". I would get reminders that it was time to update my GPS, so I would go to "Garmin.com/Honda" for the updates. 5 times I did this and the GPS was never updated. Again logged a call - "Ya, we know and we're not going to do anything about it". I could go on and on about the apathy of Honda customer service. They did finally release a radio software upgrade but the problem was never completely fixed. It was just fixed enough to allow me to tolerate it."

    Anonymous, OH (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Repeated warning light display (ALL warning lights cycling); software updtesand ret seemed to fix; then repeated after outside cold start (normally garaged.) 10 days later all injectors only replaced due to repeated misfire code for a cylinder that sets off all warning lights and reset body control module."

    Anonymous A., VA (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    "Hesitate, loss of power"

    Anonymous A., (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"My CRV had all of the emergency lights come on with my dash. It wouldn't let me check anything and I worried that it would ruin my engine. I checked on line and it is a current problem with 2018 CRV's will have and fuel injector fail. I would not buy another Honda, because they have apparently installed fuel injectors wrong. The Honda dealer said that my fuel was to "rich" and I needed to replace the injectors @ $ 1,600 and an additional $ 300 to check it out. They said this should solve the problem, but they wouldn't issue any guarantees that it would in fact fix the problem."

    Anonymous A., CO (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"A cylinder misfire code was present on my OBD. Vehicle taken to Honda Service shop. They replaced a fuel injector. The labor and parts were $1400, which is frustrating for that level of problem."

    Anonymous A., NC (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"There is a product recall on the fuel pump. The parts will be available soon."

    Anonymous A., FL (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Fuel pump failed in June 2023. It failed while driving, although I was able to get it off the road. It would not restart and had to be towed. High pressure fuel pump was repaired at cost of $1294. After fuel pump recall notice; applied for reimbursement, but was told the recall applies to the low pressure pump and didn't apply. Now we have a vehicle that is unsafe to drive, because Honda says there is no fix yet for the low pressure pump for which the recall applied!"

Anonymous, MS (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"This car is great but has had a lot of recalls with another one coming! they are to let us know when . each time takes time out if my day. If it werent for the bigger recalls I would buy this car again."

Anonymous, NJ (2018 Honda CR-V LX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The basic issue here is that the fuel pump recall has been in place for quite a while, but the parts to fix it are apparently not available. If the fuel pump fails, the car is dead on the roadside. This does not give me a good feeling about venturing far from home."

Alarm or security system (excluding aftermarket systems)

"There is a known, internet documented problem with the security system. The security codes that are transmitted between the fob and the car are stored in the car's memory and if captured by an electronic device, they can be used to gain entry into the vehicle without setting off the alarm. A criminal entity that has the financial and tech wherewithal, that wants me to move out of my house, has used this feature to harass me. I have asked Honda Corp and dealer to upgrade their security flaw to address this problem. Corp rep told me not enough people are complaining about this flaw, so they wont fix it. Dealer was equally unhelpful. It should not be a particularly difficult software fix to eliminate storing of prior transmission codes and generating new unique ones each time. Problem is not resolved, leading me to want to get rid of this car and buy a more secure brand."

Steering linkage (includes rack and pinion)

"Steering would stick right off center so when driving straight and making minor adjustments were difficult. You would have to put in resistance to get the steering wheel to turn then it would over or text when it finally let you. It was some type of magnet issue and the whole steering rack had to be replaced. Was a known issue to Honda, but still made us pay to fix it at dealer. Cost $3000 approx to fix."

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"Despite following all recommended maintenance and having the maintenance performed at Honda dealers, the timing chain stretched and slipped, and the cams and cam sensors were damaged from inadequate lubrication. This was attributed to the oil changes being too infrequent so the dirty, old oil wasnt adequate. Cams, timing chain, sprockets, idler, and related sensors all had to be replaced. Cost about $5000.00 including some routine maintenance that was also performed. Honda is reviewing the case for possible partial or full reimbursement."

"300 miles after I purchased it the turbo charger failed and was replaced under warranty. 200 miles later the turbocharger failed again and according to Honda dealer servioce department and Honda engineers it was due to oil sludge."

    Head gasket

"Honda first replaced the head gasket under factory warranty and then the head gasket went out again less than 12,000 miles later and Honda refused to warrant the previous repair because it was now 4,000 miles out of warranty. Had to pay to have the head gasket replaced again."
