    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"I initially assumed that CarPlay would be a wireless connection , which it is not - have to have a wired controller for it to work over the screen- but that was my fault. It was very difficult to figure out how to use speech recognition for Siri, but I eventually did figure it out, after about 2 months. Recently I had to replace my phone due to damage. It was backed on the cloud. I cannot remember who I got speech recognition to work. I can use Siri by holding down on the button on the steering wheel. I have followed all car screen and car play directions to no avail. I think I ended up using information from an online navigation guide which I downloaded at the time but I guess I didnt save it. Regarding the navigator system in general it was not real user friendly which I think was mentioned in your reviews. I called the dealer /salesperson whom I purchased from in Las Vegas, NV and he didnt have a clue how to set it up. I like the car a lot otherwise excellent for its size. I traded in my 2013 CRV and this one is much bigg, which is great if you want a bigger car which I did not. The only reason I bought a new car and traded my old one in is that I knew that I was moving to Charlotte, NC in a few weeks and I wasnt sure if my older car would be trustworthy for a cross country trip (have an older dog who is too big to fly in the cabin and Ive heard horror stories about shippers gos so I wasnt going to do that). Plus I wanted to take advantage of the new safety features of a new car. This was during COVID when there were little or no cars in the lots. I had contacted Subaru and they had virtually nothing. The 2 Honda dealers had some cars that we were able to test drive and eventually decided to go with the 2022 CRV Touring. The color and model we wanted was on the lot but was just sold that day. But they told me the had the exact same color/model arriving soon. By the time it arrived it was about 3 weeks away free my move - my house had been sold and movers arranged so I felt that I was stuck. They tacked on $4,000 to the sticker price and told me the only way I could get financing at a reasonable rate through Honda is if I bought a couple of maintenance packages that I didnt want but got anyway. This actually was an out and out lie provided by the finance officer as I did get a good rate for financing , 3.7%, but it wasnt through Honda Finance, which is what is said in the contract. Oh well, they gave me$22,000 for 2 trade ins - the 2013 CRV and a 2008 Honda Element, which was decent. If I had to do it over I would have shipped my 2 old cars and rented a car for the cross country drive. But that didnt occur to at the time. I will sell this car and buy something when there is something available that is just as nice but smaller. Im considering a hybrid Toyota cross currently, but may just wait."

    Display screen goes blank

"Whet I got to 8000 miles on the odometer the center console, where radio, climate controls, car play etc are displayed, has gone blank twice, and I have zero control over those functions. I didnt notify the dealer because theyd have to reproduce it and I doubt they could get it to happen. Now Im wondering what electronics function is going to fail next."

    Voice control commands

"This Honda does not pair with my Samsung S22. The screen says "Smartphone is not compatible". I got both the same month. Guy at Honda amservice has the same problem with his cell phone so it's a Honda and not a Verizon or Samsung issue. He said Honda hasn't updated its software to make it work/pair. I can only place a call if I plug the phone in and use Android Auto."

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

Alarm or security system (excluding aftermarket systems)

"The KARR and/or security system went haywire 2 times causing me to call AAA. The alarm system started beeping, wouldn't shut off, the car wouldnt move, everytime I tried getting in the car, the alarm to go off again, the Bluetooth was on car turned on, wouldn't turn off since the car was "on". Honda service did not know how to fix it. Same issue with my 2020 accord which stopped twice on the freeway which is why leased the CRV. I won't buy another Honda."

    Keyless entry

"The walk-away door lock setting had to be reset approx 10 times last year"

    Anonymous, NJ (2022 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Keyless entry (and other electronic systems) work only sporadically; dealer will not address them without additional possibly extensive expenses (e.g., loaner car for undefined period, etc)"

    Anonymous A., WA (2022 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Other electrical system problem

"The car wouldn't start on three separate occasions (so far). The first one was when it was -30C, even though the block heater was plugged in. I let the car sit and the next day when it was only -25C it started fine. A similar thing happened the following winter. The third time was just last week. I had driven 125 km to Walmart (I live in a small remote NE BC town) and the car wouldn't start when I finished shopping. This time it was a warm sunny day. It was completely dead. I got three different warning messages popping up on the dashboard - a warning that there was a problem with the braking system, a warning of a problem with the parking brake, and a warning that the tire pressures were low. I managed to get a battery boost and the car started just fine and has been OK since. The car is booked in in a couple of days at the dealership to see what's wrong, but the service guy says that if the car is running fine when I bring it in, it's difficult to find what electronic problems were involved, and they may just have to pop a new battery in and hope that solves the problem. I thought that they had a computer thingy that they plug into a whatsit port that tells them everything about the car, but I dunno. I'll find out this coming week. Hopefully."
