Road Test

This version of the Azera is more stylish and refined than its predecessor. Appealingly finished, the spacious and quiet cabin has comfortable seats and generous room for five. The powertrain is smooth, powerful and fuel-efficient. While handling is improved, the Azera still lacks agility even for this class. The ride also falls short of expectations. Loaded with features, the Azera remained competitively priced but no longer represented a bargain.

Model History
2012-
Current Generation

More stylish and refined than its predecessor, this version of the Hyundai Azera is even more appealingly finished. Its spacious and quiet cabin has comfortable seats and generous room for five. The powertrain is smooth, powerful and fuel-efficient. While handling is improved, the Azera still lacks agility and ride quality falls short of the expectations created by its looks and the class in which it is trying to play. Standard safety features include electronic stability control, antilock brakes, traction control, and a rearview camera. Parking assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and lane-departure warning are available as options. While this Azera is suitably loaded with features and remained competitively priced, our testers felt it no longer represented a bargain.

2006-2011
2006 Redesign Year
Hyundai's first near luxury car, the Azera is a well-finished large sedan with a generous back seat. Comfortable and refined, it offers a relaxed ride quality, sound handling and a quiet interior. Outward visibility is great and creature comforts abound with features like dual-zone automatic climate control and available power adjustable pedals. Standard safety equipment includes side curtain airbags and electronic stability control. For models built from 2006 to 2011, IIHS side-crash-test results were acceptable when tested with the standard curtain and side airbags.
