There are YouTube videos that show how to fix it. Its is a costly repair that is not covered by a recall. It started right around just over 100,000 miles. It is a permanent condition. I would have it fixed if I knew they were not going to reinstall the plastic component again."

Anonymous, NY (2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS 1.8-L 4 Cyl)

"Car suddenly began losing power while driving. Car would barely move despite all efforts to accelerate. Sometimes occurred on the highway or climbing steep CT hills...dangerous and frightening. Would happen intermittently. Once I could crawl home and not use the car for a few days, it would be fine for the next outing, even for a week or two. The problem would randomly reoccur without warning. 3x to repair shop without defining the issue (check engine light never came on) fourth time(1/2024) after more problem, drove the car to the repair shop (Aamco Manchester CT)again. Driving into the lot of Aamco, the car stalled and the check engine light came on! (finally!) Turned out it was the "Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor" Drives beautifully again, no problem."

This is the 2nd bearing, the first (original factory bearing did the same thing) was replaced at 60k miles. Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Summary:
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
What should you do:
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024 through October 11, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 251.

If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.
Summary:
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Elantra sedan, coupe and GT vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. This will allow the brake lights to remain illuminated continuously. It can also allow the shift lever to be moved without depressing the brake pedal, or activate the engine management brake pedal override feature.
What should you do:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 8, 2018. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 170. This campaign expands recall 16V574.
