A credible luxury car, the Genesis has much to offer. It's quiet, roomy and well-equipped. Further, the Hyundai's nicely finished cabin has unusually accommodating rear seats. The powertrain delivers plenty of punch, with either the V6 tested here, or the V8 we tested previously. A 2012 update boosted the V6's horsepower and added an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy moved up fractionally, to a respectable 22 mpg. Handling is sound, but this is no sports sedan. The ride improved, but still falls a little short of the best in this class. The V8 engine is only slightly quicker and degrades fuel economy by about two mpg.
