    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"There was a recall because the charging system for the 12 V battery had an issue. The Hyundai dealer addressed it through a software fix."

Anonymous, TN (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Electric)

"Car has an unknown drain on the 12v while off. Car fails to recharge the 12v when there is the unknown drain resulting in a dead 12v after a few days"

Anonymous, CO (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

"12 v battery failed twice. Had to be started by Triple A at home and then drive x 1 hour to recharge 12 v battery. Hyundai replaced the 12 v battery after 2nd failure"

Anonymous A., NY (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Unsure Electric)

"12v battery has failed several times requiring jumpstarting. Currently at dealership for 4th time to diagnose why the 12v battery keeps discharging. Battery replaced on previous visit."

Anonymous, CA (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

"Four times since May 2024 the 12 volt battery died. In May 2025 the battery was replaced and about 6 weeks later the 12 volt battery died once again Brought it back a fourth time and left it with the dealer for 15 days and was told they were unable to find anything wrong."

Anonymous, NY (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL Electric)

""12v battery failure, car died and had to be towed to dealer. ICCU fuse failure. Still awaiting final repairs to be completed.""

Anonymous A., MS (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

"12v battery has died 5 times and had to be replaced twice. Apparently there were problems with the system that is supposed to charge it. In two instances the battery would no longer hold a charge. All repairs were under warranty but required waiting for a jump and then time at the dealership."

Anonymous, NJ (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

""It died at about 13,000 miles and had to be replaced. (It was NOT drained by user error, such as leaving lights on).""

Anonymous, IN (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

Anonymous A., ON (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)

Anonymous, NC (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

"The car battery still had about 100 miles left on its charge. The car suddenly slowed to 15 mpr. while on city streets. Then after about a minute, the car resumed normal driving. This happened 4 times while driving home--about 15 miles. It scared us and infuriated drivers behind us. The dealer was closed at the time. We charged the car and then called the dealer the next time they opened. We took the car in but they could not replicate the problem. We were told to immediately bring the car in if it happened again. It has not happened again. Thank good, what if it happens on the freeway?!"

    What Owners Say

    Other electric/hybrid charging problem

""Constant problem. 12v attery has never charged on its own. Always have tokeep it on 3rd party trickle charger. There was a recall on the ICCU but two dealers would not replace it. Currently have filed a lemon law calim with Hyundai as the car is inoperable unless I jump start it or keep the trickle charger running. Otherwise I love the car but the dealers don't seem to have had the proper training to handle this issue other than a couple of software updates and replacing the 12v battery. None solved the problem and the last dealer made the totally false claim that it needs an owner supplied trickle charger to stay operable. I'm not sure I ever heard such an uneducated, obviously false excuse.""

Anonymous, CO (2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Electric)
