Testing proved negative, but to be on the safe side, Hyundai doubled the standard warranty period to 10 years. The vehicle ran fine for the next 7 years. Then, in December 2024, the engine seized and in February 2025, a new one was installed. Hyundai covered all costs and there have been no issues since.""

Dealer said this is common with these GDI engines due to carbon build-up, but since its out of warranty won't do anything about it. Hyundai was not helpful either."
