    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"I was driving when the engine stopped running. After towing it to the dealer where I bought it, they determined that something major (?) had broken, had to replace the engine. Hyundai's 100,000 mile warranty completely covered the cost of the rebuilt engine."

    Anonymous A., FL (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3-L V6)

"Due to potential engine failure, we answered recall and the engine was tested. Determined to be ok, not one of those that would fail. Approx. 10k miles later, it failed (rocker arm), shut down on highway. Towed to dealer, they inspected and determined it failed due to their recall defect. Engine replaced at Hyundai expense, however several months later it began to smoke after heating up, burning smell was detected in cabin when moving slow or stopped. Determined to be anti freeze leak dripping on to exhaust, became heated and smoked. Related to engine replacement (unofficially, but according to a Hyundai service tech, but not one from the dealer where the engine replacement was done). All seems to be well now, one year an approx. 7k miles later."

Anonymous A., SC (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 3.3-L V6)

"Engine seized. Per recall towed to dealer Took 5 months to get car back. ZERO communication from dealership"

Anonymous A., OR (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 3.3-L V6)

"The engine seized. It had been recalled and was checked a couple of years ago and they thought there was not problem. It seized while driving on a freeway."

Anonymous, AB (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 3.3-L V6)

"Engine seized at 209000 km. required complete replacement. although it tool close to 2 months to get it repaired, Hyundai Canada replaced the engine, almost completely free."

Anonymous, ON (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 3.3-L V6)
    Head gasket

"Love this car but its been burning oil with no visible leaks for a few years. Then we noticed smell of burning oil. It was the head gasket. We had it fixed, but still smell oil its nearing 200000 miles so I guess thats to be expected"

    Anonymous A., TN (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

Anonymous A., OR (2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 3.3-L V6)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)
