"A little over a year after purchasing the Santa Fe new, my husband was stranded in the garage - the car would not start. It seemed to start (you could 'hear' it start), but then it would turn itself off (after about 5-10 seconds). The first time it would not start, they said it was a computer issue - they replaced that component. Two months later it happened again. I was stranded for over two hours. I was waiting for the towtruck to arrive. While sitting there, I would try to start the car, with no luck. The car then started unexpectedly after multiple tryings with no idea why it would not start vs why it suddenly did. I was stranded for more than two hours multiple times. The first time, they replaced a computer component, but then it happened again two months later, then again a month later, then again and again and again, getting closer and closer. They could not figure out how to fix it. They tried many things and replaced various parts/components. Towards the end, the car would not start even while still at the dealership. They had the car for more than seven attempts to repair it for multiple lengths of time (they had my car at one point for almost four weeks). They did many things and also replaced a whole computer system... nothing worked. Eventually, we decided to get another vehicle. Sadly, they did not lower the new car price any amount to compensate us. We were expected to pay full-price. You might ask why we bought another car from them... we did not feel comfortable going to another dealership and trade our barely two year old car for a new one knowing it had a problem even the dealership was having trouble repairing. They did give us the actual trade in value (even knowing the car had a problem). Generally, we have really liked the Santa Fe's... how they drive, how they feel, their safety features, etc. This was a very disappointing situation."
