Anonymous, AR (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"During our holiday in Nevada near Grand Canyon stoped for lunch. When we came back to the car it would not open up. We called the support line for Hyundai and that was next to useless. About 3/4 of an hour later my wife tried the car fob for the 100th time and it opened up. From then on we did not lock our car until we parked at our hotel. Frustrating and very annoying. We were told we must have been out of cell range but our cell phones worked. Didnt make any sense to me. Also the manual key wouldnt work when we tried that."

    Loose interior trim or moldings

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"At 10,000 miles the AC went out while we were on a long distance road trip. We took it to the nearest dealership and they told us they couldnt look at the car. Got to our destination and took it to the nearest dealership. Left it with dealership for a few days and they fixed the AC. Of note, Hyundai would not cover this under the warranty because they said a rock must have hit my vehicle to cause a leak which caused AC to go out. I am not happy about it."

Anonymous A., AL (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT Unsure)
    Refrigerant leaks

"This is what dealership said caused AC to go out. They said a rock in the road must have hit the front grill of the vehicle to cause the leak."

Anonymous A., AL (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT Unsure)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Other major engine problem

"Fuel injectors failed. Now failing again ,along with low amperage code."

Anonymous A., MI (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"At approx. 5,800 miles the car was on the highway and began shaking uncontrollably and losing power. There was heavy rain, but no ponding on the highway. It almost seemed as if something electronic or inside the engine got wet because the car was sputtering terribly and we could not get it over 30-35 mph on the highway in extremely heavy traffic. The only way to keep the car moving at that speed was to keep force downshifting it with the paddle shifters for 20-25 miles. Brought to Hyundai and technician suspected fuel injector problem (they had an identical car to ours in the shop with the same exact problem). They kept the car for over a week, then returned it to us saying that they couldn't replicate the problem. In the past 16,000 miles we've had two instances where the engine has shook on the highway (not as bad as the first time) and there was a slight loss of power. We just drive it and ignore it because Hyundai tells us it is fine. If the engine blows it is under warranty, but we intend to trade the car in over the next few months and be done with it - and Hyundai - for good."

Anonymous A., CT (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Gear selector or linkage

"Hyundai's push button gear selector is an accident waiting to happen. One example: I was in Drive, pulled into a driveway to turn around, came to a stop, hit "R" and the car chimed for the transition to reverse, the "R" lit up, and the backup camera came on, I hit the gas and was still in drive and moved forward. This has happened dozens of times and I've hit curbs parallel parking and almost hit cars in front of me in parking lots when I've hit the gas and traveled in an unexpected direction. I despise this car and gave it to my spouse and took back our old car to drive. He cannot believe how inaccurate the gear selector is either and is planning to trade the car in in the coming months. Hyundai says it "tests fine" and there is nothing wrong with it. Liars. This gear selector is dangerous and likely to wind up being deadly."

Anonymous A., CT (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Rough shifting

"Using paddle shifters in traffic, especially in turns, leads to over-reving. Their is no way to revert to automatic shifting until the manual override times out. During long highway trip, experienced Misfiring/mistimed cylinder caused shifting problems in heavy traffic. Having to slow down then trying to speed up again would have the tachometer fluctuating then RPMs would stall low 1000-1500 then spike over 3000. Vehicle was taken to dealership shop. Temporary code was identified and cleared. Have not had had opportunity to take out on another long drive but fault appears to have been cleared."

Anonymous, TX (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"The transmission was replaced in February 2024."

Anonymous, TX (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"I purchased the car 8/1/22. On 7/11/24, the transmission stopped working. On 8/9, I received my car with the replaced transmission and transmission computer. On 8/10, I received a different error notification about the transmission. Today, 8/15, I tried to drive to the dealership for repair, and the car stopped shifting correctly. It was towed to the dealership."

Anonymous, NC (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Electrical failure

    "HVAC mode door actuator failure"

Anonymous, MT (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Stability control (ESC)

"The main computer cable had a broken wire and was not receiving correct data from the ABS or the ESC sensors. This caused the car to throw error codes and would not accelerate and caused extreme hesitation when driving."

Anonymous, ME (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Steering And Suspension

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Other steering/suspension problem

"At speeds over 45MPH on flat or any road surface the car will wander left then right requiring steering adjustment. Tires checked, balanced and rotated, no vibration in steering wheel. Almost feels aero dynamic like driving on a windy day. Dealership claims they could not duplicate condition during their test drive."

Anonymous, FL (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Engine Electrical

Alternator, starter, hybrid battery replacement, hybrid battery related systems, regular battery, battery cables, engine harness, coil, ignition switch, electronic ignition, spark plugs and wires failure, auto stop/start.

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Fuel injection system

"Car began idling rough and then became impossible to drive. They had to replace all 4 fuel injectors under warranty"

Anonymous, WI (2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Engine Minor
