Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Road Test

Introduction

The Sonata Hybrid is still based on the previous generation Sonata. It is a far cry from the previous conventional Sonata, which was one of our highest-rated family sedans. Although it gets better fuel economy than its nonhybrid doppelganger, the trade-off in drivability, refinement, and braking performance is too high. The car stumbles and hesitates as it makes the transition from electric to gas power and sometimes shakes and vibrates. A new Hybrid, joined by a plug-in version, is available.
