Anonymous A., NY (2019 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Squeaking

"I went to the dealer to fix and spent 700 for them to grind my plate or something and that did nothing. Went somewhere else and was told brake is not pulling back all the way so squeaks and would be expensive to fix"

Anonymous, MD (2019 Hyundai Sonata SEL)

Electrical Accessories

/ 5

What Owners Say

Alarm or security system (excluding aftermarket systems)

"Hyundai failed to install an Engine Immobilizer in 10+ years of vehicles (this model included). They never told Dealers or Consumers about it until after a Tik Tok Video exploited it and a Hyundai Vehicle Theft Spree had exploded NATIONWIDE. Hyundai settled a Class Action but still has yet to remedy the situation with the vehicles. Many Insurance Companies WON'T insure the vehicles even when garaged and with a Steering Wheel Locking Device installed when not in use."

Anonymous A., CT (2019 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Exterior lights (other than headlights)

"Fog Lights have not worked since purchasing the vehicle in 2020, despite having them replaced and electrical work performed at the dealership."

Paint/Trim

/ 5

What Owners Say

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"Hyundai knows about the defective white paint and keep using it to this day. If I would have known about this defect I would have picked another color. Now I had to incur an additional car rental expense with Hyundai as the paint was out of the warranty and only said they would paint the hood and roof and not the whole car. Hyundai corporate lost me as a loyal customer owning or leasing 7 cars. Will look elsewhere before the paint starts to peel again and cannot get top dollar for it"

Anonymous, FL (2019 Hyundai Sonata SEL Unsure)

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.
