    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"Drops out once in a while"

Anonymous, IL (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"Several bluetooth related issues - I always use music on a usb drive. Randomly, when I get in the car the system will try to pull music off of my phone. My husband also has a cellphone set up in the car and we have both had to re-add our phones at least 3 times. We have had several instances where I am on my cell in the house and when he pulls into the driveway my call appears to be cut off and that person is connected in the car. We previously leased a Honda CRV with these features and never had one problem in the 3 years we leased it. My opinion is that the Hyundai has faulty software."

Anonymous, (2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"Trunk does not close. The in-car button does not. Suddenly the display trunk remains open. Loud alarm sounds and continues drive. Trunk will not open either."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"A few months after purchasing the car, one day while driving all audio cut out. The radio stopped, you couldn't hear someone calling on your cell through the car speakers (although the caller could hear us). Internet research indicated that rebooting the system (removing the battery cable for 15 minutes) would fix it, and it did. Until the NEXT time it happened. Ultimately, this happened 3 or 4 times. The service technicians at Hyundai claimed to have never experienced this problem. More research on the Hyundai Tucson forum indicated a huge number of complaints about this problem. The forum said it was a defective amplifier on Tucson's produced from 5/23/22 - 9/16/22 with VIN numbers starting with 5NM. Hyundai issued a technical service bulletin on this issue, number 22-BE-008H. But the forum said that dealerships had to be forced to make the change, sometimes requiring the problem to have been repeated for 3 times. On my next service visit, I shared the technical service bulletin number and asked for a new amplifier. The mechanic refused because I could not "replicate the problem." I finally went over his head to the service manager, who agreed to give me a new amplifier (Part #96370-N9300) The problem has not happened since."

Anonymous A., HI (2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"I've had problems with the trunk since I bought it. I took car to dealership for repair. The needed part had to be shipped to dealership. It has been two years, but I was never notified."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"We can be driving and the sound stops. There is no recall yet. My husband read about the issue (safety voice beeps and commands stop too). It has happened about eight times. Our fix was to disconnect the battery and reconnect it. Works, but I took it for service to the dealer. They told me not to do that as it resets the diagnostics. We were instructed to stick a pen tip to reset the sound on the computer screen in the little hole on the left."

Anonymous, FL (2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"Without phone pairing or maps able to be connected the car nearly caused my wife to be stranded and unable to figure out how to get home."

Anonymous, CA (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL)
    Radio

"The radio doesnt turn off when you turn off the car. You have to turn on and off the car twice in order for it to stay off. When it first happened I had no idea and was in the store for over an hour. I was worried that I may forget to check it when I left my car and drain the battery. They never fixed it even after they said they were would (Atlantic Hyundai in West Islip)"

Anonymous A., NY (2022 Hyundai Tucson SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Channel selection is not working properly. Dealership doesn't know how to fix it"

    Fuel injection system

"Had three break downs and long tows because of fuel system problems in under 10k miles. Have had 2 injectors replaced on different cylinders and fuel hoes/pump still hasnt got to root of problem, car is going back any day under lemon law"

Anonymous, CA (2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Car started running very poorly, almost not drivable. Hyundai refused to get it in until a month later and would not give us a loaner. We drove in and demanded they take it and fix it and give us a loner and they did."

Anonymous, PA (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"A fuel injector went out. This resulted in a loss of power but we were able to drive it to the dealership for repairs."

Anonymous A., CO (2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Injector #3 failed at 34500 on a Friday afternoon with my wife driving from work fortunately near home. Multiple local dealers contacted and all were unable to perform diagnostics/address problem / until following Monday. No offer / program to provide courtesy vehicle while waiting for service on my purchased vehicle still under warranty. Was necessary to cancel weekend travel plans. Im telling all my friends and business contacts to avoid Hyundai purchase given service advisors suggestion to contact an attorney when I suggested courtesy replacement until issue resolved! Hyundai doesnt provide that even though I paid for extended coverages. In other words Hyundai rejects any responsibility to provide courtesy to customer when their products fail. Diagnostics on Monday, replacement injector unavailable locally so injector special ordered for receipt by dealer on Tuesday and vehicle not repaired (under warranty)/ drivable until Wednesday. In the meantime, I was expected to / and did make scheduled car payment on piece of sh_t vehicle and turned to old reliable 2001 Suburban with 400k miles."

    Anonymous A., AZ (2022 Hyundai Tucson 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"I have been to Hyundai service twice this year. Once to replace 2 fuel injectors. Returned 3 months later to replace the 3rd fuel injector. Why not replace all 4 at this point? Why would these fail? Toyota and Honda NEVER have these issues."

Anonymous, NY (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"All four fuel injectors went out one at a time leaving me stranded. Hyundai would only replace each one as it went out. Dealer took 2-3 weeks to replace each one with no loaner car."

Anonymous, AZ (2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The dealership has to replace it. It left the vehicle without a injector"

    Engine Minor

Accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer, engine mounts, engine knock or ping, fuel leaks, oil leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Engine computer

"On two occasions the vehicle (2022 Hyundai Tucson) has slowed significantly and had a maximum speed of less than 30 mph. In each case, the display or dashboard had a warning of a low speed limit. In the latest incident, the display showed the following a circular speedometer and had LIMIT 20MPH. On the first occasion, the limit was 28 mph. I have a picture of the display during the second incident. Each occasion happened while on a highway, and we were fortunate that we were able to quickly pull to the shoulder so as to not cause an accident. In each case, after I turned the vehicle off and restarted the engine, the problem went away. The dealer and the Hyundai office has been no help to me. I took the vehicle to the local dealers service department, since it is still within the warranty period, and they said they found nothing wrong and no computer record of the incidents. Corporate told me to work with the dealer, which I had already done. The corporate office was no help to me. Such a future incident could be extremely dangerous if this happened while at higher speeds on a highway or Interstate, and we could not quickly pull to the roadside. We are fearful this will happen again."
