Based on the highly rated G sedan, the EX emphasizes sport over utility. It isn't defined by traditional SUV attributes like offroading or cargo handling. Rather, the wagon-like EX has spirited acceleration and agility with some cargo flexibility. Despite the hatchback design, the cargo area is small and the rich interior is snug. Rear visibility is sacrificed for styling. Fuel economy is disappointing at 18 mpg and the EX requires premium fuel. Crash-test results are impressive though. A rear-view monitor is standard. The EX got a larger V6 and a name change to EX37 for the 2013 model year. Yet another name change graces this sporty SUV: While the basics of this car carried over to the 2014 model year, it was renamed QX50. 2016 brought a longer wheelbase, greatly improving rear seat room.
