Road Test

This Infiniti SUV mostly succeeds at providing a sporty driving feel to match its sleek styling. Highlights are an eager powertrain and responsive handling. The interior is also well furnished, plush, and fairly roomy. However, visibility is compromised, the ride is too stiff and cargo capacity is rather small. Its high price reflects an array of optional high-tech safety gear, including active cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

Model History
2009-
Current Generation
Infiniti's 2009 redesign brought more even powerful engines, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and high-tech driver's aids, including active cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. Responsive handling and an eager powertrain remained high points, but the snug cabin and impeded outward visibility carried over as well. The FX got a larger V6 and a name change to FX37 for the 2013 model year. While the basics of this car carried over to the 2014 model year, its nomenclature was changed once again, to QX70.
2003-2008
2003 Redesign Year
A midsized SUV that drives more like a sports sedan. The FX35 features a strong and smooth V6 engine, coupled with an excellent five-speed automatic transmission. Instant throttle response and impressive performance are the result. The FX45 (later FX50) version features a gutsy V8 and even better handling. The trade-off is a stiff ride that transmits every bump. The cabin feels snug, partly because of the high doorsills and low roof. The styling also compromises rear visibility and the wide turning circle makes parking cumbersome.
