Road Test

Infiniti's flagship is among our top-rated luxury sedans. Handling is agile and the interior is nicely finished. Performance is strong, and fuel economy has improved, even with the power increase. But the engine can sound a bit raspy when revved high. A wide variety of electronic safety technologies is available, though the features range from useful to simply annoying. Controls are daunting at first, but experience brings familiarity.

Model History
2011-
Current Generation

Quick, quiet, and roomy, the 2011 redesign also performed well. A not-so-impressive rear-drive hybrid version was also introduced. The optional Technology Package adds a variety of safety aids. These include lane keep assist, which can also prevent changing lanes into an unseen car. The active cruise control function has autonomous braking, as well as a forward-collision warning system. Model year 2014 brought a name change to Q70. Styling was facelifted for 2015, which also marked the introduction of a long-wheelbase Q70L model.

2006-2010
2006 Redesign Year
The 2006 redesign of Infiniti's largest four-door car transformed it into a capable luxury/sports sedan with a comfortable interior, a choice of V6 or V8 power, and optional all-wheel drive. Ride and handling are good. The M series Infinitis are exceptionally capable, whether cruising on the highway, or hustling along twisty country roads. Further, their interiors are plush and well constructed. This version of the Infiniti was also one of the first cars to offer a lane-departure warning system.
2003-2005
2003 Redesign Year
The rear-wheel-drive Infiniti M sedans occupied a price-and-size gap between the G35 and the large, now-discontinued Q45. Ranked among our top sedans, the original M45 was a conservatively styled package with a gutsy V8 engine, but a cramped interior.
