Road Test

This version of the XK is comfortable and sporty with a muscular V8 engine and a tasteful wood and stitched leather interior. It's a comfortable cruiser around town, but turn the heat up and the response is graceful, sporty, and agile. The fabric convertible top is well insulated and does a good job of stifling noise. The all-aluminum body is free of flex problems found on other convertibles.

2007 Redesign Year

The stylish XK coupe and convertible deftly blend traditional wood-and-leather luxury with satisfying athleticism. For 2007, the XK was redesigned with an all-aluminum body. Handling is quite nimble, considering the comfortable ride. The strong V8 engines and six-speed automatic transmission operate with a great deal of sophistication. Further, the XK's supple and controlled ride quality graciously befits the brand. The cabin is furnished with plenty of wood and aromatic leather. The convertible is free of body-flex. Although most competitors used folding hardtops, the XK convertible sticks to cloth, which retains a decent trunk, while still providing good noise insulation. However, outward visibility to the rear is a challenge when the roof is deployed. The touchscreen infotainment system is very slow. The XK discontinued after 2015.

1997 Redesign Year

The Jaguar XK is the latest in a long tradition of Jaguar coupes and convertibles. Although the car dates back to 1997, the V8 and five-speed automatic are about as smooth as they get. Handling is not geared to be as agile as that of a sports car, but the car is athletic enough with precise, responsive steering. The supple, controlled ride is gracious, befitting the mark. The cabin is furnished with plenty of wood and aromatic leather. Two kids can fit in the small rear seats.
