    Jeep Compass First Drive
    Introduction
We are currently testing the 2025 Jeep Compass. Ratings and road test results will be available at the conclusion of testing. The Compass received a host of changes in the 2023 model year. Jeep replaced the 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which we found to be unrefined and sluggish, with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, and dropped the balky nine-speed automatic in favor of an eight-speed. Four-wheel drive is now standard. The Compass we tested with the 2.4-liter engine wasn't very agile, but it proved to be secure at its limits. Aside from the allure of the Jeep brand, the Compass trails the competition in several important metrics. The ride is rather stiff and jittery. The rear seat is too low and flat. The freshening also brought an updated version of the Uconnect infotainment system with the choice of an 8.4-inch or a 10.1-inch screen.
