    Road Test

The Jeep Patriot is built on the same small car platform that is the basis of the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass. Unlike those models, the all-wheel-drive Patriot can be equipped to go off-road, although we found it struggled to make it up our rock hill. There have been some improvements over the years in interior fit and finish and cabin noise. Unfortunately, these changes don't transform the Patriot. It remains relatively noisy and slow, with a tight driving position and restricted visibility. The Patriot isn't truly competitive among small SUVs.
